Looking for informatio on Lou (Lulu Ryan) and Clark Winget of Decatur Illinois. I am especially interested in what became of the Thomas Ryan (lulu's father and mother) family- I know they died and were buried in Decatur Il and I would like to have pictures or copies of the obituaries. They probably died in the 1930's. Did Clark and Lou have children?

Ancestors of Elijah Winget

Am looking for info on Elijah Winget (b. Sep 1837, NJ) and Carry or Caroline or Charlotte A Winget (nee unknown, born between 1841 & 1850, NJ), married 1864 probably NY or NJ. Children: Everett (c. 1860, NJ); Anne/Annie (c. 1862, NJ);
John (c. 1866, NJ); Charles (c. 1869, NJ); Leslie (male;
c. 1872, NJ); Margaret (c. 1874, NJ). Had lived in Newark, NJ in 1870 - 1900. Last address for Elijah and Charlotte A. is Islip, Suffolk County, NY in 1900. I have info on Everett's family going forward, but none prior and none for other children or on Elijah and Charlotte's background. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :) K E Winget

We live in Putnam County, Red House - not sure where Great Grandpa Wingett lived before here. I really don't know a lot about him. He lived to be in his mid 90's. My Grandmother was Alma Wingett Mallett, I think she had four (4) other sisters.

I'm new to this, but my gr gr grandmother was Sarah Jane Winget. She was born in Wolflake, IN in 1846 and married Thomas Littlejohn. They lived in IN, IL and finally settled in Middletown, OH where I grew up. I think the family is now scattered throughout the U.S. I'm wondering if there are any scheduled Winget/Wingett/Wingate Family Reunions.
Thea - Encinitas, CA

Hi! My name is Crystal Lynn Wingett! My father is Brian Douglas Wingett! I have 4 siblings, my older brother Marty Dean Wingett, my two younger sisters Alicia Marie Wingett and Victoria Prenger, and my younger brother Tyler Thomas Wingett! Wow i didnt think that i had this much family from Nebraska! I moved to Minnesota when i was approximately 10 years old with my mother and my sister! I still currently live here. I would love to hear more on my family. I had no idea that this site existed! It is really cool that the web has a place for you to find family like this. I would like to know some more information on my grandfather Stanley Wingett. I didnt really know him besides what my father has told me about him. So if anyone knows anything just post it on here. My email isnt currently working so dont send it there. Thank You

Crystal Lynn Wingett

My line gets a little confusing, I think I have 4 or 5 William's in a row, back to Lemuel then Ziba. I have traced it further, but I got so excited about new people on the board, I didn't take the time to look it up properly. Welcome to board!

Hi Jennifer!
It does seem unlikely that we both have ties in nebraska, perhaps in some way we are related, my grandfather, howard wingett and his wife Ruth Countryman, lived in coldridge, randolph, hartington, pretty rural settings, I'll have to dig deeper to find family before him.
I may have mentioned it, but I do have a half sister that was born in nebraska, her name is Tanya and would probably be about 35 or so now, I haven't seen her since she was a year old though.
I'd love to hear more!
Hello Brian! I am not sure where in my Wingett tree you would fit but my family was from Nebraska. It would seem odd to be in the same area and not be related somehow. Most of my information is actually posted under the Winget surname thread. For some reason my great grandfather added another "t" to our last name because his parents, brothers, and sisters only have 1 "t". I am having a difficult time finding any information about his siblings. I would be more than happy to share any information with you. My sister has actually done most of the research but we help each other out. I'm glad to see some activity on this board.

Jennifer (Wingett) Pierce

Hi, My name is Brian Wingett, my father was Stanley Howard Wingett, His Father was Howard Wingett, We mostly lived in Nebraska, I'm 43 years old, and very interested in learning more of our family. I have two brothers, Wesley Dean Wingett, and Marty Jay Wingett, prospectivley, 44 and 40. When I was a young child, my father remarried, and with his wife had a child, her name is Tanya, I met her once at roughly the age of 1½ years old, so she's approximately 10 years younger than myself, I have not heard or seen her since that time....approximately 1967. I'd love to hear from you so we can share more information, and ideally, I'd like to reconnect with my long lost sister.
I'd be more than happy to share family history with you, and look forward to hearing from you!
Hi, here's one. Your message was posted on 10 July, which was my 58th birthday. Check out my tree at Ancestry.com. The name of it is "Winget-Castle Tree". I've been researching off and on since 1997, though only recently (this year) have gotten back into it. I'd be happy to correspond with you or any Winget/Wingett researcher.

Twas the quiet of the message board that I found so eery,
No one looking for that crazy old Great Aunt Mary,
All of the family must have been found,
No more searching or pavement to pound.
Maybe I've done something terribly wrong,
For I can't find the one to whom I belong.
It is Lemuel that I search for long in the night,
If anybody reads this and understands my plight,
Drop me a line, and maybe we can do by our ancestors right!

Sorry for my rhyming folks, but I just thought that I would see if anyone still lingers here the way I do.
Judi

Hey! I've been hitting the same brick wall. The darn 2nd "t" is driving me crazy!! Anyway, I'm glad to know that I am not the only one. I know my history back to gg grandfather, but there isn't much to connect my history to the documented history. It seems that documentation stops with Lemuel Winget. I started this project thinking that I might find my grandfather, William Winget(t). He disappeared in 1936 and no one heard from him since. Good luck and I envy your sister's patience!

I have hit all the brick walls around. My maiden name is also Wingett, with 2 t's. I guess noone wanted to keep records. Most of mine come from W.V. and Ohio. I can track myself back to Lemuel, but not with documentation. Oh well, it's nice to know I'm not the only one that hangs out here. Good luck with your search.

Hello Michael! I must admit it was very strange to receive a message from Michael Wingett considering that is my father's name and he passed away in 2004.

Anyway...welcome to the Wingett boards that hardly ever have any activity. My sister and I have some of our family tree done but seem to get stuck in some places. I'm sure you are related somehow. Feel free to post what family history you know.

I was just curious if any Wingett's hang out in here anymore. I do not know much about my family but would be happy to find out. Here is my immediate family information:
My father is Michael Wingett. He has 3 siblings, William, Paula, and Nancy. Their parents names were John Paul and Esther (Graham). I think John's parents names were William and Vera. We all live in Illinois. My sister wants to start a family tree and I thought I would help her out a little. Hopefully someone will reply!

Aloha!

AFAIK, most Winget / Wingate / Wingett families in America can trace their lines back to one of four Wingate brothers that left England in the 1770s to help the colonies in their quest for independence. When they arrived in the New World, they changed their surname to Winget (the Scottish variation).

In 1998, I started a web site dedicated to linking all of these Winget / Wingate families. In fact, mine was the very first link in Google for "winget genealogy". Unfortunately, my old provider upped the cost and forced me to take down that wonderful resource.

In December of this past year, I obtained a new server for our previous work - http://genealogy.wingetsolutions.com . It is a great site as it is now, but I have many wonderful improvements planned over the next few months. As always, my site is free, but I won't turn away any donations.

Happy Hunting all!

<< I just wish I could find the link to the other Wingetts. I know we all are connected somehow. >>

Regarding "I know we are all connected somehow" made me think of my research on my own Wingate family. My wife and I both have Wingate blood in our family. Both Wingate families have lived in the same county for 200 years and at times only 6 miles apart, however, we have yet to discover any common ancestor!

I happened upon this board because our own Wingate name has been spelled Winget, Wingett, Wyngate, Wingate, and even Whiget and all within the same family! As late as 1920 my wife's family used the Winget spelling but by 1930 everyone had switched to the Wingate spelling.

I'm hoping to find a common ancestor too but I'm beginning think I'll find them back in England before 1750.
