There is a book titled "Documents Relating to the Winkley Family" researched, produced and printed by William Winkley of Harrow,Middlesex ,England on the Harrow Press of which he was the proprietor.
His line goes back to the Winkleys in Lincolnshire,England in the late 1600s.
There is only a tenuously suggested connection with the Winkleys of Winkley Hall in Lancashire ,England and no suggested connection with Samuel James Winkley who founded a branch of the family in North America

I have a copy of the book. A full transcription is available to download in PDF format

I am looking for my GGGGGrandfather Joseph Wendecker Winkley born @ 1775 New Jersey moved to Hamilton Co. Ohio married Mary Lyon born 1780 New Jersey on 19-Oct-1806. Joseph was in the war of 1812. They moved and died in Dearborn Co. Indiana. They had the following children; William b. 1807 Ohio (my Line), Joseph Wendecker b, 7-Nov-1812 Ohio, Mary Ann b. 6-April-1815 Dearborn Co. In., and John L. b. 1816 Indiana

My parents lived in South Bend, Indiana in the 1940's. They then moved to Austin, Texas where most of my family still resides. Let me know if this sounds at all like the Winkley family you are tracing. If so, I'll get more information.

WINKLEY family in Niagara Co., NY area

I have a picture from my grandfather, Ellsworth SHAW, that has an E. WINKLEY and a Bill WINKLEY in it. They were probably born in the 1890's or so and lived around Niagara Co, NY area - possibly Newfane, Lockport, Wilson, Olcott, Royalton, etc... There are other people in the picture by the names of Bill COLEMAN, ______ PHILLIPS, ______ BEARING, ______ CORMER, ______ GATES, L. WHITEWELL. Some of the pictures say "The AYRES Group". It looks like they visited some retreat place.

I have an original studio photograph of the four daughters of William & Susan Winkley which I would like to get back in the hands of family members. The 1880 census of Janesville (Rock Co.) WI gives the ages indicating the years of birth above.

On the photo is written: "Tase Winkley Barnard, Lou Winkley Lloyd, Carrie Koehlin Winkley, Mae Winkley Gosselin". I believe Carrie's name should have been written Carrie Winkley Koehlin.

The 1930 census for Rock Co., WI gives the names of three of the husbands: James A. (& Louise) Lloyd of Ft. Atkinson (Jefferson Co.) WI; Frank (& May) Gosselin of Beloit (Rock Co.) WI; and Charles D. (& Lulu) Barnard of Evansville (Rock Co.) WI. 1920 census shows mother Susan Winkley still living at 83 in Janesville.
