Hello, My niece, Allison and I are doing ancestry research. We are currently working on our Choctaw ancestry. My great grandmother Elizabeth Johnson (Choctaw #12453 ) was first married ro Rufus Johnson ( #14822 ) they had one son, Benny Winlock #12454. Elizabeth later married Alexander Johnson #8732. They had 6 children. Only recently did a grand daughter of Benny Winlock and his late wife, Ruth Winlock Mills, ( McAlester, Oklahoma ) know about her grandfather's half-siblings. Ruth and Benny had 5 children, ( I think this is correct ) Mamie, Bennie, Jr., Earl, Simon ( the last name I am not sure about ) and Lester. Do you recognize any of these names? On the 1930 census it shows Benny and Ruth Winlock and four children, Mamie, Earl, Bennie Jr. and Simon living at Tuskahoma, Pushmataha County. Benny was 4/4 Choctaw. On the Choctaw census card #4489, it lists ( Winlock surnames ) : Bennie , bettie, Rufus 38 yrs, and Silas and Winey as ( P ) parents. Thes are the names for the applications but not all are inclided on the final rolls that have the ( P ) listing. So some assume these Choctaws were dead at the time because although on enrollment cards. all are not listed on the final rolls. We live in Keota, Haskell county ( formerly Sans Bois County) Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, I would really enjoy hearing from you.

Thelma C. (Daney) Winlock was my dad's sister. If you want to contact me we can discuss more information on this issue. My dad was Richard S. Daney, son of Mary Jefferson and Solomon Daney. I have heard the name Winlock mentioned quite often by my mother, Vada Marie Hatton Daney. My mom and dad are both from Talihina, OK.

Hi, I was wondering if your Winlock connection has any Pittsburg county or Talihina area connections? Do you attend the Labor Day festivities in Sept. at Tuskahoma? I understand that Sawyer Brown, Tim McGraw and others will be there next year. I won't be a candidate this time for Choctaw Jr. Miss.... My Haskell reign will end soon. Bye

Wattie Winlock, Tom Winlock - Father?

I was looking on the Dawes Final Rolls and I came across the same card number for Tom Winlock as my great grandfather, Wattie Winlock (card# 2959). He was listed as a P (Parent), card # 2959. Does this mean they are related, possibly his father?

Looking for any info. on Winlock, Bunton, Daney & Jefferson. My father is Harry Winlock and my grandparents are Tony (deceased) and Thelma Winlock. Daney is my grandmother's maiden name.
Wattie Winlock (roll #8704) married to Alice Bunton. Soloman Daney (roll #6200) married to Mary Jefferson (roll #8466-full blood). Mary had a sister named Mollie Jefferson (roll #8467-full blood). Watson Jefferson married to Kizzy (Kizzie) Lee (full blood), Mary & Mollies parents. Forbis Williams is Kizzy's father. That's all I have so far. Please email any info. you might have.
