I believe you may have dropped a generation from Richard to Hezekiah, namely, John who married Mary Pledger. What is astounding about the name Minor is its persistence. Minor, the son of Hezekiah, had a grandson named George Minor Winn, who had a grandson named the same, living until 1988!
By the way, I have a copy of the portrait of Mary Pledger Winn (ca. 1738) if anyone is interested.

Meredith Winn

William Winn b. abt. 1865 in Florida

In 1885 Florida census Willy (as he was listed) was living in the household of William & Nancy Gaskins in Hamilton County FL. Sometime that same year, he married their daughter, Malaha Rebecca Winn. I have seen the name spelled Winn and Wynn on the various census and the Wynn's lived their life in Florida - most of it in Taylor County FL. Their daughter, Ella, was my grandmother. Does anyone out there have any connection to this family.

Try the Waterville,Benton, Clinton area. My ancestor, George Worthington Winn, a son of Japheth Winn is a mystery to me. All I know is his wife's side of the story: he dragged the family out to Deadwood, South Dakota around 1879. His wife never forgave him. Lots of info on Japheth and his son Japheth, business men around Benton, but not on the siblings or spouses.
To facilitate communication, my e-mail is marysrq@gmail.com
Mary

Connie,
I am not sure where it was taken, the back of the picture says Grandpa Winn and there looks like a 45 but it is faded (could be 1945). I think it is the Calvin Winn who was married to Sarah (Sallie)Bell. For some reason I think the 2nd from the left as you look at the picture is Ray Dell Gunn.
Katy

Winns in Tennessee, Stella, Edward, Lillian

I am searching for information about Stella Winn. She had two children that I know of- Lillian born 1902 and Edward born 1905. In 1910 they lived with the Bateman family for a short time It has been said that Stella never stayed in one place very long. She left Lillian with the Bateman family- Lillian was the daughter of Sidney Bateman. I am not sure who Edward's father was. I cannot find a trail on Stella or Edward after 1910. Can anyone help me with the missing pieces?

Although my question was 9 years old, I haven't been all that successful in finding much on this part of the family. I haven't found Sarah's maiden name, so that is huge for me. I have visited Scotch Settlement, but missed that the marker stated he was 80, so I have been a few years off in my search (unfortunately I don't have my sources tagged in my database to know who to blame :-).

I descend from John Winn, and his daughter Mary (Mamie) so I have a good sense of that line. If you could send me your email address, I can forward you what I have of Samuel and his familyand perhaps we can work together to fill in our blanks.

Hello Kate: Since your original query was posted almost nine years ago, I suspect that you may have already found the information you were requesting. I descend from Mary Jane Winn and have much information on that line of the Winn family. However, I can tell you that Sarah Winn's maiden name was McLaughlin and that she was the daughter of Robert McLaughlin and Mary ?. Sarah was born about 1810 and died 13 August 1876. Samuel Winn is buried in the Scotch Settlement Cemetery in Dearborn. His marker indicated that he was 80 years of age when he passed. I haven't been able to find any exact date but have narrowed his birth year down to between 1808-1810. He was from England but I don't know exactly where.
As for Margaret b. 17 September 1841, Thomas born 18 August 1846, Henry born 11 September 1850 and Annie born 4 July 1853, I have little other information. The others, John, Mary Jane and Peter I have much more. What else can I tell you?

Daniel Winn's Wife may not have been Sarah Tench

In a new update to "Winn- Daniel & his Nine Sons" there appears to be evidence that Sarah Tench may not have been the wife of Daniel Winn (1715-1799) as originally thought.Becasue she did not relinquish her dower rights in a deed in 1776, which was required by law. If she was dead at that point, then she could not have been the daughter of Henry Tench who left one arm chair to his daughter, Sarah Winn, in his 1777 will. It is possible that she was the wife of Col. Thomas Winn, who was also married to a Sarah. That Sarah left a will dated 1818 and recorded in 1820.
This new book is full of updated and well researched information. More can be learned about the book at www.winndata.com. All proceeds go to the upkeep of Winn Cemeteries in Tenn.Certainly a worthy cause.

I realise that this comes eight years late but I have just noticed your enquiry about the Winns. I am decended from Ellis and his brother William (their children married) and have recently been following up on the history of Ellis's son George who died in Canada. I would be very happy to exchange any further information. I have a copy of Margaret Cambell's will and have an interesting story to tell about William. Please get in touch.

I've tried looking on both ancestry.com and hertiage quest to no avail.

Any help you could provide in locating this 1930 census record would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Jim

I have photos of William Welton Winn and Lizzie J. Spencer, as well as their daughters, Sarah, Kate, Alva, and Neva. I don't have any photos of their sons. Would love to acquire them...
Am happy to share what I have.
