I'm at a loss to understand the confusion surrounding the Munhausen-Winniford connection. I know for a fact that
my cousin Jeannine Cook Bright, the daughter of Martha
Munhausen and J.T. Cook, has documented this in great
detail on the Mormon website. Her documentation is in
great detail, is thoroughly researched. It also contains
all of the information for both the Munhausen and the
Peschka lines.

Callease Munhausen (my mother) married Frank Wallace
Winniford. Two children were born of that union.
Patricia Ann Winniford-Williams
Marilyn Adele Winniford

Callease Munhausen was the daugter of Annie Josephine
Peschka and George Henry Munhausen.
Frank Wallace Winniford was the son of Ola May Fry and
Sam Winniford.

Annie Josephine Peschka and George Henry Munhausen
had eight children, two of whom died either in
infancy or early childhood. One of those was
Leroy Munhausen.

George Henry Munhausen was the son of Felix Munhausen
and Annie Schroeder. He was born in the Houston Heights
which is where his birth records were retained.
The Peschkas are buried in the Old Catholic Cemetery
off Navigation.

The surviving children were:

Theodore Munhausen
George Munhausen
Callease Munhausen
John Tracy Munhausen
Martha Munhausen
Joseph Addison Munhausen

All are deceased except Martha and Joseph Addison.

Theodore Munhausen and his wife Helen had two
daughters, Barbara and Beverly, both of whom are
deceased.

Martha Munhausen married J.T. Cook and had one
daughter Jeannine who married Joe Herbert Bright.

George Henry Munhausen and his wife Jean had two
daughters, Genelle and Carolyn.

John Tracy Munhausen and his wife Oleta had one
son, John Tracy Jr.

Joseph Addison had no issue.

In your message #39, of 11/11/00, you mention that Andrew Winniford died in Redlands. His death certificate lists him dying in San Bernardino, CA and being buried in Lancaster, TX on 12/5/1919. So, I'm a little confused. Do you know what cemetery he was buried in?

Re the Oregon Winnifords, in the Fall 1988 (Vol. 27, No. 1) issue of the Oregon Genealogical Society Quarterly there is an article written by Carmen Winniford Yokum called The Snake River Canyon. Carmen's parents were Billy and Stella Winniford. According to the article William's father was Alexander Findley Winniford of Abbington, WV whose father was George Washington Winniford, son of David Winniford. I forgot to add... I presently live in Lancaster,Tx. ..My dads' sister Nora Winniford married Hubert Williams. They had one child and his name was Wendel. They are all deceased now..

There is a lot of detail info that just never came up. I was told certain things..of course I imagine other things were told to me when I was a child..but I don't remember it if it was told to me.. but maybe this will help some.. Good luck on your search!

Hi!

My surname is Winniford. John Winniford that lived and died in Lancaster,Tx was related to me. I think he was my fathers' fathers' brother..Henry Winniford. I am not for sure...but related somehow..

He was at one time I think Deputy Sheriff of Lancaster area.My fathers' name was Kirby Winniford. He had a brother named Ury Winniford and a sister named Nora Winniford.

Henry Winniford was married to Ida Hulse They divorced later on and he married Viola..but do not know her surname..I don't think they had any children.

. Maybe we are related in some way..I am 61 yrs. of age. I had 1 sister and 1 brother. My mothers' name was Hilda..her surname was Campbell before she married my dad.

I would like to know more about the Winnifords of Texas..please email me if you wish...Thanks!

A Norvel Winniford is my Great Grand Father. He settled in Lancaster, Texas. He went to California in 1850 during the gold rush. I understand he was sucessful. He later came back to Dallas County, Texas. He was appointed Sheriff of Dallas County, under marshall law, at the end of the Civil war.
My Grandfather, his son, was Henry Winniford.

No I haven't found where they were buried yet, I'm still looking. I have been trying to document from my family back to Henry and Susan Banta, but haven't been able to find very much in the way of documentation(besides census records). I have gotten Ellen Elizabeth's death certificate, and Henry and Isaac's land grants, but am still looking for a record of her marriage. I have a copy of the "Blue Book", but have nothing on the Winnifords.

I have been working on another part of my family and am at a dead end, so I thought I would try finding more information on the Winniford line. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreaciated.

I'm researching the Winnifords and I'm trying to figure out the Munhausen connection. I have three Munhausen women. I grouped them as sisters, but I don't know if they were. Can you tell me more about the Munhausens in Harris Co. Texas?

The "boy Munhausen"--is it Callease's father? George Henry.
Mother was Annie Josephine Peschka.
I am researching the Munhausen genealogy. I don't know of the Winniford branch except for Marilyn (my cousin on my father's side) and Callease(my aunt).

Let me know if I can help. If you are just going for the Winniford family, sorry but cannot help.

The research of the Winniford's before David Winniford is sketchy. There's a one or two generation gap between the last person on the Winniford research and David Wineford who immigrated to America with son, George, and daughter. No direct connection established yet. I've also been trying to find a connection.

I have learned much from other postings of yours. And the link you sent was great reading. Thank you very much. I had also bumped into Wilmoth/Wilmarth Burrus/MACKGEHEE, but the dates I have are confusing me. My data shows her b. in ca. 1693. Her m. to Abraham MACKGEHEE in 1720. I have George WINNIFORD b. 1725 and m. to Wilmoth McGEHEE. Wilmoth BURRUS is shown to have married twice, once to George WINNIFORD. That would make her much older than George. Are you finding these as date mixups, or maybe Wilmoth had a daughter named Wilmoth that married George, or what would you suppose? I feel so tantalizingly close here, but my data isn't looking right.

Most of the information you have, I also have. There were two exceptions. Norvel and Susan Johnson's children. I have that Nancy's Middle name was Coleman. Where did you get the Carmical name. You also have a Martha Winniford. Where is that name from?

Ellen got your information on The Virginia Winnifords. Will forward my information on the Oregon and Washington People very soon. Haven't worked the line for a while so maybe a day or so. In the mean time William R. Winniford was my 2GGrandfather went from Cumberland county to Washington county Virginia to Tenn. ?( I think) to Oregon to Washington. He is buried in a small town cemetary in Washington state. The name of the town is Rice. The story is neat as to how he got there. Dennis Parr

Hello Texas and Oregon/Washington folks. Last evening I was looking for Winifords/winnifords and ran across interesting information about the War of 1812. Seems Norval, George and David (b. 1794) all served during the war. Noval was a private in South's 5th mounted regiment Kentucky, George was lieutenant in a Virginia Artillery unit and David was also in Virginia Artillery as a private. Information compliments of Ancestry.com

I have the Norvel that married Rebecca being born 1823, which could make him son of Norvel and Susan Johnson maybe??? I have his son Elbert Lee Winniford who married Millie Rawlins.
