Gaines had a daughter named Cora Winningham, she married John Tyler. They had a daughter named Vera who married John David Cox and they lived in Tulsa. Vera and JD were my grandparents. I would love to correspond with you and find out more information. Vera moved into town from the farm when she was a teenager to go to school. I think she lived with her uncle William at that time. She was very good friends with Pierce, he also moved to Tulsa as she did. I think they remained close friends all her life. One of her cousins stayed with her in CA when she broke her hip and helped her, and I think it might have been Pierce, but I'm not sure. My grandmother died many years ago and she took alot of her family history with her. I would love to learn more about her family and connect with cousins.

Michele
mehelfrich@pwhome.com

(b.3 Jun 1844).
Alfred & Jennie's (Sale) son was William A. (b. 24 Sep 1884).
William & Retta's (Pierce) son was Pierce S. I have not opened my tree to anyone yet, but I do intend to sometime in the near future. I want to make sure I have all the data entered before I do. I also plan to use pictures & I will try to scan as many of the documents as I can for others to see. The bible is in a "very delicate condition" but extremely legible.

I am doing this with and for our daughter. It has been alot of fun so far and we are certainly on an adventure.

Our Willinghams were in va in the late 1600's. There was a Thomas Willingham in the Charles City county Militia in 1702.
There are 3 Winninghams on the 1704 Prince George county rent list . John, Edward and a Thomas.
There are 3 Willinghams listed on a Suffolk parish register that have dates that could be these three guys.
I think your husbands family came in later than mine.
Parents of Alford Taylor Threet

Alford Taylor Threet b. 15 Nov 1883 Fentress Co, TN was allegedly the son of Jesse Threet b. 22 Dec 1860 TN. Do you know who the mother of Alford Taylor Threet is? One descendant had a note from her grandmother that said Jane Jentz Winningham was "Dad's mother's family." That leads us to believe that perhaps Alford's mother was a daughter of Jane Jentz Winningham. Any help on this would be appreciated. bruceyork@cox.net

Re: Waltr Cassel Winningham

I believe Cassel (listed as Castle Winningham in family records) is buried in the Booher Cemetery, Monroe, Overton Co., TN. He is buried there with his wife, Chloe "Delsie" Booher. She is my aunt. I am the daughter of Hoy Lee Booher, brother to Delsie.

I would like to get more info on the Winningham side of the family. I never really got to know any of my cousins from Castle and Delsie. They were older than I was and were not at Grandma Booher's very often at the same time we were. I don't even know where they lived. Any info you would like to share would be appreciated. I have info on the Booher side to share (not a great deal but enough to get a good start).

I am also interested in Booher family, Hill family, Garrett, etc. links to the family.

My family descends through Mariah and her daughter, Elvira. The information I have is this: Mariah was born on October 18, 1807 in Randalph Co., NC. She married James and they had ten (10) children. This is quite interesting, there are several Pedigrees on the internet that state that James and Mariah weren't married - that she was his "consort." Either James and Mariah divorced (unheard of!) or they parted ways and James married Mariah's 1st cousin (not sister) Rachel. Mariah died and is bured in the Bethesda Cemetary, Monroe, Overton Co., TN.

Walter Cassel is the Grandfather I never knew. The copy of the birth records for Walter C(assel) and Victor W(eldon) list Della V. Winningham as the mother. Her maiden name was "Franklin". It is said James was married more than once and the name "Lucy Smith", not Lucy Franklin was a wife. Do you have any info or documentation concerning this matter? I don't have too much concerning the Winninghams'.
