Hello! Our immigrant Ancestor is Richard Wainscott, born 1711. Please email me at MstryWolfe@aol.com and I can help you find info on him. I have some of this documented. I have not uncovered the branch of the tree that you mention, but there's one thing we all have in common . . . "Richard Wainscott".
Crystal Murphy

Greetings! I just happened on this board and thought I would post a note, cousin?

My ancestry stems from (I believe) David Winscott b ca 1738 in Madison KY and died ca 1834 in Calloway Co, MO. He married Rebecca Baker, and they had Jessie Baker Winscott 23 Mar 1818 in Gallatin, KY. He died 03 Jun 1850 supposedly along the rail line about Henry Co, MO. Married 08 Jun 1843 in Jasper Co, MO Virginia Robinette Newsom(e) who was born 23 Mar 1819 and died 01 May 1899 in Hamilton, Caldwell Co, MO. They had James Coffee Winscott on 26 Mar 1844 whom I descend from.

Do you have any info on this line, documentation, etc.? I am searching for both vital Stats documentation and our immigrant ancestor.

Thanks,

Rick

Hello, and thanks for replying! Do you have any knowledge of any of your Winscott line moving on to Kentucky? My reason for asking, is my great-grandmother's name was Missouri. Her mother, Nancy Winscott, married William Perkins. I've wondered where the Missouri came from, I feel it has some sort of connection with the State. I could be wrong, it's just a hunch. But as you may well know, over half of discoveries are from taking a step toward "hunches" .. have a great day!
Crystal Murphy

Crystal, I know of several Winscott's in the Seneca, Mo area. Before my parents divorced, my natural father's family all lived around Seneca. Nelson and Jessie Winscott, my grandparents, are still alive and I believe are still listed in the phone book. Nelson had a few siblings that grew up in that area, but I'm not sure what their names are. He's probably 80+ years old now. They're a "kooky" bunch so I would be careful if contacting them. I do know for a fact that he had a sister that moved to California, and I believe a brother as well. That's all I know. The children of Nelson and Jessie are Charles (Joplin, Mo), Ron (Seneca), John (Miami, OK), Sharon Clapp (Fairland, OK), and Martha Hoover ? (Grove, OK). I hope this helps. Charles Winscott is very nice and could be helpful. I believe he's listed in the Joplin phone book. Good Luck!! Justin Forbes.

I may have been in touch with you before this but have forgotten (age). Do you have any records of Winscotts who moved to Indiana from KY? My ggrandmother, Jenny Cabler, married William T Winscott and lived in Louisville but he was from Indiana, Jennings Co. His father was William S Winscott who was married to Sarah McWhorter. I know they descend from Richard but I do not have the connecting families. My grandmother was Pauline Winscott who died in 1966 but I never met her because my mother was raised in another family. Thanks.

WINSCOTTS ~ FIRST TO ARRIVE

RICHARD WINSCOTT was the first Winscott I've been able to determine to arrive in the U.S. Is anyone aware of his having siblings who came along or joined him shortly after? This would be interesting to find. Also, just a note to let you know I've compiled quite a bit of information on the Wainscotts/Winscotts the past month. Thank you to everyone who so graciously helped in my search. I've done some research in the Owen County, Kentucky Courthouse and copied marriage records of the Wainscotts/Winscotts even if they were not in my direct line. I'd be happy to share the info should I have something someone needs. You may reply to me here, or at MstryWolfe@aol.com.
Thank you again,
Crystal Murphy
