Muskogee, I.T., November 5 - Col. Dewey Moore Wisdom died last night at his home in this city, after an illness of several months. Col. Wisdom was in the Confederate Army, being Colonel of the Thirteenth Tennessee Regiment, and was wounded twice in the battle of Shiloh.
Since coming to Muskogee fifteen years ago Col. Wisdom was appointed chief cleerk at the Union Agency here, afterward being appointed by President Cleveland to the office of United States Indian Agent at the same agency. He was also Mayor of this city at one time, was a lawyer of fame and one of the most prominent men in the Indian Territory. The local camp of the Daughters of the Confederacy was named after him. Col. Wisdom was born in 1836 in Rockingham County, North Carolina.
The funeral will take place in this city tomorrow, and it is expected that upon the return of the Mayor tonight a proclamation will be issued that all places of business be closed all during the day.
