Henry Wise Breathes His Last Alone in His Cabin
Dead Body Discovered by Frank Turner, a Rancher, at 2 O’Clock Yesterday Afternoon – Deceased Suffered from Cancer of Stomach.
Henry Wise, an old prospector, was found dead yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock alone in his cabin about six miles down the river from Highland Valley postoffice by Frank Turner, a rancher.
Wise was past 50 years of age and had lived alone in his cabin during the last four years. He was very poor and at one time was an inmate of the county poor house. He had no family and not relatives in this country so far as known. He had a brother in Germany, but his address has not been learned, though it may be found when his effects are examined. Wise has been sick for nearly a year with something like cancer of the stomach and Mr. Turner had been looking after him occasionally to see that he was not in need for anything. When he called at the cabin yesterday, he found Wise lying in bed lifeless. From appearances, Turner thinks he had been dead for about 24 hours.
Coroner Lee was notified and he left last evening for the dead man’s cabin about 10 miles from Boise.
