I also come from that line, and it has been difficult to find. The family rumor was that Jacob's son
changed his last name to Norris, his mother's name. I am trying to find more info on that. My gg's name was Arthur Norris.

Seeking information on the family of Evaline Ellen WYSCAVER/WISECARVER/WYSCARVER (1834-1929) and John SHULL (1827-??). The family lived in Ohio (probably Vinton Co.) and may have moved to Levenworth Co., KS in about 1880. As you can see below, the names of the children are confusing with maybe two Margarets and two Nancys.

Even the middle name for John Shull is unclear (H. or W.). See below.

Who were the parents of John Shull?

Did any of Evaline and John's children marry and have children (aside from Emma)? If so, would appreciate details.

This is part of my effort to identify the descendants of Lewis (of Passage Point) MORRIS.

Samuel Wisecarver (Wyskiver) of Guernsey Hocking Counties, OH

I am searching for information on Samuel Wisecarver. I believe he was the son of George Wisecarver of Greene Co., PA. In 1828, he appears in Beaver Twp., Guernsey (now Noble) Co., OH. In 1838, he moved to Starr Twp., Hocking Co., OH. In the 1850 Census, his wife Ally (Estle) Wisecarver appears with their children. What happened to Samuel? Ally is said to have received a pension from the Federal Government. She died in Hocking Co., on Feb. 3, 1890. In Hocking Co., the family name came to be spelled Wyskiver.

Jacob Wyskiver had two sons David and Matthew by two women David's mother was a Norris Matthew's was Van Valkinberg David married Rebecca Jones they had 7 children Arthur is one of them Jacob died during the Civil War and is buried in the Morris Chapel Cemetery in Hocking County Ohio

Jacob Wyskiver married Emily Van Valkenburg, in Hocking County, Ohio, on August 3, 1860. A son Matthew Wyskiver was born in 1861. Jacob Wyskiver died some time between Sept. 1862 & Dec. 1865.

Thanks, I have info that Jacob Wiskiver was married to a Norris and had a son, David Parson. For some reason, he is later referred to as David Parson Norris. Then Jacob remarried to a Valkenburg. Thanks for the census records!

I have a Periann Wisecarver (20 Sept 1823 - 23 Oct 1892) daughter of William Wisecarver and Mary Ann Morrison. William and Mary Ann Wisecarver are buried in Bowers Cemetery, Washington Township, Muskingum County, Ohio. They also had a son, Jacob Wisecarver (1791 - ?), I do not have any other info on him. Periann married Isaac Darner in 1841 in Muskingum County, Ohio. They had 6 children that I have found. Their son, Jacob Darner (1856 - 12 Dec 1907) would be my Great-great grandfather. Jacob married Sarah Mary Ellen Bowers and they had 7 children, one being my Grand-father Lewis Damon Darner. I would be glad to share any info I have.

Info from the Loudon Co. Heritage Book which can be purchased from the Loudon Public Library, 100 River Rd., Loudon, TN 37774:
Susan B Wisecarver, born Aug 1825, Greene County, TN; granddaughter of John and Betsy Townsend Wisecarver who moved to Tennessee from Virginia and settled in Greene County. Her maternal grandfather, Nathan Davis, settled in Greene County before 1790.
Parents died 1843 in Green County, TN - William and Elizabeth Davis Wisecarver
Susan was sent to live with the family of her uncle Jonathan Davis in Monroe County (now Loudon). It is said she was made to work as a field hand with her uncle's slaves. Someone told her that marriage could be a means of getting out of her situation, and that she knew a John Bowman Simpson was looking for a wife. Susan married John Simpson Aug 1843.

My grandfather was from Stillwater, OK. Married to Edythe Mossburg Wiscarver. Two sons Robert Jr and William Delbert. Edythe had a child from her first marriage to a man named Buckmaster. Her first son was Devert Buckmaster. If you are interested, you can e mail me for further family history.

I have came accross a notorized copy from 1907 of the family record of Jacob Wisecarver. It lists the birthdates for Jacob and his wife Elizabeth and their 8 children. Jacob Sr. Feb. 16, 1796, Elizabeth June 18,1803 children: Periann Sept. 20, 1823;Catherine Feb. 13,1825; Joseph Feb. 26, 1830 ; William Thompson Aug. 1,1831 Lucinda ( my 2ggrandmother) Aug. 15, 1835 Henry June 28, 1838 ; Elizabeth Jan. 25, 1840 and Jacob C. April 4, 1842. I would like to correspond with other Wisecarver researchers.

I am in search of information concerning Catherine Wiscarver born about January 7, 1838 or 1840, in Janesville, Ohio. She married John Burrows October 28, 1855, Davenport, Iowa. She died April 7, 1925, Neligh, Nebraska. He died March 21, 1876, Blair, Nebraska.
These are their children:

2. Mary Jane Burrows born April 11, 1859 or 1860, Iowa. Married Horace Bentley (My Line)

Yes there is a connection. George Franklin Wyskiver (1869-1942), who maried Margaret Alwilda Snider (1873-1907), was the son of John Wyskiver (1839-1921) & Sarah E. Swain (1840-1928). I have been researching the Wisecarvers for several years, originating in Virginia. This is the first I have seen the name spelled as Wicecarver. Several Wisecarver families migrated to Missouri in the 1800's. I have traced my Wisecarver back to names of Wisecarber, Wisegerber, and Weissgerber.

Jacob shows up in the Frederick County VA tithables under his own name in 1794. No record found in VA after 1797 - for Jacob, or his brothers John (pretty sure went to TN), George, Joseph and Abraham(pretty sure went to OH). Also had sister Barbara (think married Jacob Renner in VA), brother Henry (my ancestor) and sister Christiana (married William Gough in VA).

Their father John's will states: "wherein my children not named in this will are provided for, as by reference thereunto being had, will more fully appear" and then never mentions them again. Henry and Christiana only children named in will.

Could they be the names showing up in Ohio?? Tennessee?

I have two Wisecarver women from that county with the name Louvina. One married a Lewis Haun in 1867 and had 5 children - mother a Hurley, father's first name Harmon. The other was born in 1868, father's name Rueben, mother Jane Haun.

Mary Wisecarver m John Nicholas Coffman

I am seeking information on the Mary Wisecarter who supposedly married John Nicholas Coffman. (That name has various spellings and might be found as Johann Nicholas Kauffman.)

The dates are around 1735-1800.
The locality is Virginia. One often sees Shenandoah County, VA but Shenandoah wasn't a county at the time they lived.

Any clue, no matter how insignificant on either of these individuals would be greatly appreciated.

Hi--I am a Wyscaver/Wisecarver researcher also. My GGGrandfather was Joseph Wisecarver b. 1803 VA married to Lucretia Morris b. 1815 Pa. I believe Joseph's father was George b. 1756 and he was Jacob's brother. I do have some info on "our" Joseph's descendants. I am looking for Joe. and Luc. marriage date. WISECARVER, George or George Wiscarver, VA Line S22589, sol was born 11 August 1756 in Frederick Co VA & he lived there when he enl, he applied 17 Sep 1833 in Greene Co PA & in 1836 he had moved to Guernsey Co OH with his children ( no names given) & in 1838 he had returned to Greene Co PA.
Wife's name Catherine Orndorf
Children: Elizabeth (married Joshua Vandruff), Isaac, Joseph, Margaret (married Abner Phillips), George Jr. (see biographical sketch on Greene County, PA GenWeb message board), John, Jacob, Sarah.
Have more info to share.

Catherine Wisecarver and James Galloway are my gg-grandparents. Their daughter Lucy married Edward (Edmund) Melvin in 1880. Would be interested in sharing information. In the 1880 census, Adams Township, Muskingum County, I have found an Elizabeth F...... Widowed, aged 76, born in VA living with Henry ..... 44, born in OH. Wife's name is Sarah J........ 39. Could this be Elizabeth?

Seeking info about the children of Joseph WISECARVER b PA and his wife, Mary STEWART, b PA.

Joseph Wisecarver and Mary Stewart are mentioned as parents of Eliza GREGG, b Greene County, Pa. Eliza is listed in the Antill Funeral Home Records, Cameron, Marshall County, WVa, died 1 October 1924, Morford, age 80-6-21, being a widow, burial, Windy Gap Cemetery.

This would indicate that Eliza was born early in 1844. Family records indicate that she married John GREGG, he born ca 1829, served in the Civil War, and died August 1907.

Anyone know of this Joseph WISECARVER and Mary STEWART family?

Jacob B. Wisecarver was my grandaddy and Selma is my grandma. John Quincy, my uncle died in 1994. He had two sisters, my mom is his sister her name is Winnie Sueva Chapman and the other sister is Geneva but I'm not sure of her last name now, I'll find out and let you know.

I am looking for any info on my grandparents...Jacob B. Wisecarver and Selma L. Styke Wisecarver. I am trying to find ancestors and info, as much as possible. I started looking awhile back but had to stop and now I'm starting again. He was born 8/26/11 and she was born 11/6/09, they lived in Tennessee. Any help or info would be appreciated.
