In honor of their 49th wedding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. William Wishart of 1145 South Pittsburgh Street were entertained Wednesday evening by Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Kemezy at the Kemezy home, also on South Pittsburgh Street.
The party was a complete surprise to the Wisharts and was attended by about nineteen guests, including neighbors and a few relatives of the honorees. The actual date of the anniversary was Monday.
The evening was spent in a pleasant social way and later a tasty lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by her sister, Mrs. W.R. Carson, Mrs. O.R. Herwick and Mrs. Jack Foley. The dining room table was made centered with a beautiful wedding cake, decorated with pink icing rosebuds, and forty-0nine small pink candles.
The honorees were presented with a bouquet of lovely red roses. They also received many anniversary cards.
Miss Nannie Duncan, daughter of the late A.C. and Mary Duncan of Dunbar, and William Wishart, son of the late Andrew J. and Catherine Wishart, were married April 12, 1899 in the manse of the Presbyterian Church at Dunbar. Rev. N.E. Sisley, then pastor of the church, officiated. He is now retired and residing in California state. The Andrew J. Wisharts also resided at Dunbar.
A retired store manager for the Union Supply Company, Mr. Wishart was in charge of the store at Leisenring No. 3 for eight years and of the Trotter store for 28 years. After his retirement he and Mrs. Wishart moved to their present home, which was erected while they were residents of Trotter, and have resided here since. Both are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Wishart is a member of the board of Elders of the church.
Among those present at the party were Mrs. Jay Marietta, daughter, Donna Jean, and son, Jack. Mrs. Ewing Marietta and sons, John and Charles, and William Duncan, all of Dunbar. Mr. Duncan is a nephew of Mrs. Wishart. Mrs. Ewing Marietta and Mrs. Jay Marietta are nieces of Mr. Wishart.
