SPRINGFIELD, OHIO – Benton H. Wissinger Jr., 90, formerly of Boardman, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, at the Ohio Masonic Home, Springfield, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Youngstown, Ohio the son of Benton H. Sr. and Edna (Moreman) Wissinger.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served our country proudly during World War II.
Benton was a Boy Scout leader for many years and a member of the Western Star Masonic Lodge. He retired from General Fireproof Company after many years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Seymour) Wissinger of Springfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Wayne Sears of Vermont; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Benton Wissinger III; and one brother, Donald Wissinger.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., Boardman, OH.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Ash Welch officiating.
Burial will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
