Hi Lisa, I have consentrated most of my research 1900 and before so I don't have many names of the Stebbins childrens' children. I also don't have alot of information on Stephen's children from his first marriage or his first wife. I have her name as Inez M Brown. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I have Mabel Plouch's parents as Albert Plouch (1858-?) and Eliza A Lesley (1869 - 1962). Eliza's parents as Francis L Lesley (1835 - 1900) and Rebecca S ? (1833 - ?). Albert's parents as Everard Plouch (1823 - 1873) and Nancy H Irwin (1830-1894).

Your cousin, Bonnie
my email is Henry_2010@msn.com
My understanding is gma left because of the drinking, but used a new job as an excuse to friends and family.
On Ancestry I found the articule about his death.
For years gma told people she was a widow from the first marriage. Their divorce came first. would love to hear more from you, I have a lot of info on Mabel's family.
your cousin, Lisa ldstemple@hotmail.com

Re: Leola Withem-Krebs

Leola Withem-Krebs was my Great-Aunt Lee, which she always affectionately said that she was my GREAT aunt. I miss her saying that.

My grandfather was Roy A. Withem, brother to Leola. They had 2 brothers: Clyde (who resided on Hiawatha St. in Columbus and was married to Jane), and Walter Lee (who died when almost 2 years old). They had a sister Viola, who married Lou Stedman.

Aunt Lee & Grandpa were born to Maria (Mary) Oest-Withem and Warren Thomas Withem. Mary was born in Germany in 1883. Warren (Tom) was born in Ohio in 1887. They met while he was in the Army and she was living in N.Y. She immigrated to U.S. when she was 13 years old and lived in a German house in N.Y. She came to America on a boat which her brother, Peter, worked on. Grandpa and Aunt-Lee never knew what made her come to the U.S. at such a young age, because Great-Grandma Mary never talked about it. To her, it was "I'm in America. I speak American. I live here now."

Great-Grandma's parents did end up coming to America much later on. They are buried in Connecticut but I haven't found out where. Their names are Heinrich & Matilda Oest.

Great-Grandpa Tom's parents were from Ohio. Their names are Richard Lewis Withem and Sarah Frances French-Withem.

I can give you much more information about the Withem's. Just let me know how much more you want.

-Melissa Withem
mjwithem929@yahoo.com
Looking for information on Enos Clyde Withem (g grandfather) He is the son of Charles Wesley Withem and Louella Arvella Beaman. He died in a car crash in 1932 in Shelby, Iowa. Enos married Eunice Mabel Plouch (g grandmother)abt 1916. They had five Cildren Evelyn, Irene (grandmother), Fern, Kenneth, and Clarence. In the 1930 census Enos is living by himself and says he is widowed, but I found Eunice living with all of their children listed as divorced. Eunice remarried Stephen Stebbins and they had seven more children. Looking for more personal information to put the story together.

Hi Debbie...are you descended through Oliver's daughter, Goldie? My grandfather was Oliver and Clarinda's son George Albert, Sr. Clarinda and Oliver are buried indeed at Greenlawn as is Oliver's parents, James and Catherine. I have the death certificate for Clarinda and it lists her parents as Jed Withem and Nancy Wallace, both from Morgan County. The Wallace's are easy to trace but I'm having trouble with the Withem's. I've just recently started this so I am really just opening up the records. Where are you? I have a feeling we are close to each other. E-mail me (aniey692@hotmail.com) and we can compare notes, if you'd like.
I am hoping to see if your John ( that lived in kirkwood twp which is about 10 mi from where I live and Catherine in union twp which is also 10 mi from where I live) would have had a brother Charles. There are Charles listed here but with a wife by the name of Kiziah. The farm on which John is living on in 1820'sis also very close (it has been all striped for coal now) and Morristown which I think Catherine lived is also . Many Graham's still live in Morristown (one of the very aoldest town and much of it still in tact . I have been gooing thru the cementery records for the Adkins and have found quite a few , I will keep the graham family in mind now . If John has any other family let me know . I am just starting on this

Thanks
Sandy Saffield@hotmail.com

Lida,

I am on the same trail trying to find out where George went. It is possible that he may have perished in the civil war or some other conflict. I am searching the war records looking for him but I need some info...

1. Do you know where George lived (City, County, State) or could have lived around the 1850-1870s ? Then I can search specific unit rolls for him.

2. George's possible wives (if you know them). I can then look up pension records.

3. The name of the foster family that George was given to when he was little (any clues would be helpful). He may have changed his last name if he couldn't get over his dad leaving them.

Cody

Cody:
Yes, we may be on the right track. John Adkins was born approximately 1793 in Maryland. He married Catherine Graham in Ohio, 1825 (?) and they had three sons, Abraham, George, and Abner. She died and the sons were taken in as foster children. I think ggf Abraham was about ten years old at that time. Abner's great grandson, George Adkins furnished me with a copy of an Ohio court document naming the three boys and a property dispute. It isn't clear why John could not keep the boys. I think I located him with a new wife and young children, in one of the later census records in Ohio. Abner Adkins married in Stark, Illinois, and later migrated to Iowa where the family now live. Cousin George and I have searched for our great uncle, the middle brother, George Adkins (1829), but cannot locate any records. Some of the Graham family members might know something (Ohio). Catherine's father was Robert Graham, I believe. I hope this helps!

I have no idea if this is a relation, but I would imagine so if it was taken at Leveck studios in Lancaster, Ohio. That is where my grandparents were living most of their adult lives, although I have found out my grandmother was originally from Mcarthur, Ohio. Grandma had a brother-Clyde Withem (he and his wife-Jane have passed away), a brother Roy Withem (he is also passed away) and another brother whose name has slipped my mind (am I getting old, or what?)..any information would be greatly appreciated since I am unable to find anything. I am taking a trip to Mcarthur next saturday (April 19th), so if I learn anything, I will let you know.

Dear Verna: Yesterday, I succeeded in tracing Nancy Belle Beaman back to 1725. I plan on getting the info on the www Or I may set up a web page to do so. When I submitted the info to you, I made a spelling error. Tinham should be Tinkham. And the Withem named was spelled "Witham" back prior to the 1900's. There are many decendants involved in this ancestrial information for both Beaman and Withem. Look forward to hearing from you.

Connie,
Your query is the closest I have come to locating early origins of my great grandmother Julia Catherine Witham (Withem) Adkins. She appears to have been born in Franklin, Illinois in 1841 and married my g grandfather Abraham Adkins in Illinois and moved to Ohio. He was born in Ohio in 1827-1830 and had a son George Adkins and a daughter Mary Catherine Adkins before marrying my g grandmother. I think his brothers were Abner and George Adkins. I think he married the first wife, Catherine Graham. I don't know what became of that wife. Julia Catherine Withem Adkins married in 1857 at about age 16 and migrated to Missouri and Arkansas...also, Nebraska, and bore about 10 children before passing away in Little River, Arkansas, c. 1912-15. Do you know of Mary Catherine Withem Adkins?

I have not been able to get past James, so you have enlightened me quite a bit. I will start on the names you have and see where I get. The dates for Nancy Belle b. 2-19-1863 I believe should be 2-17-1864. That is in all records I have come across. Of course I also have James as 11-22- . and his death as 12-07-1947. I am not sure on him as there isn't much info on him. That is what is written in our family stuff.Eva (our grandmother) was very closed mouth about her family.I will keep digging, I know that Nancy is buried in Magnolia, Iowa? If anyone is back there they can start checking cemetary records. Any idea where Benjamin died at? Is this reunion Withem?
