Looking for members of my family, my grandmother was Nannie Larremore ( Sanders, Rimes, Epley) her mom was Minnie Cordelia Withers, her dad was William Frances Larremore. Nannie was born 11-11-1901 and died 11-22-88. I have her under the Sanders tree.

Hi Amanda,

My name is Dave Withers and I am from WV. I have been doing some research on the Withers family that came from England to America about 1680. They started in VA and spread out all over this country with many in TX.

If you know what city or area in TX your Mom was born, I might be able to give you some other Withers people from that area. Of course if you know the city, the phone book from that area might give you some clues.

Hi my name is amanda and I was adopted and so was my biological mother her birth named is karen withers and all I know is she was born in texas I think, also she had two brothers named Randy and Phillip. THe story that I have been told is that Karen Randy and Phillips father was a truck driver and the mother was very young and left the picture for the dad to raise the kids and her struggeled to do it by himself and finally gave the kids up for adoption. So here I am at the age of 30 really wanting to know where I come from. I assume that George and Ann (both from Bath Somerset) were married though I cannot find a Cert., except that Ann's maiden name was given as Withers on a subsequent marriage back in England (1861) where she was described as spinster (father; Joseph Vincent Withers.

While in America they had a child Emily Ayling Withers 1853/4 variously put as born New York, New Jersey. or America on Censuses 1861 to 1901 back in England.
Sometime before 1857 Ann and the child Emily returned to
England and the child was Baptised in Disley, Cheshire
1957.
Could someone Please look up
Emily Ayling Withers's birth. c1853 in America
Death or otherwise of the Infant c1850 that went out on the Cosmo.
Death or otherwise of George Withers c1827

Any help appreciated to unblock this bottleneck.

Searching info on Daniel Withers b. 1835 m.Sept 1859 Sophia Neale. 1861 England Census records the couple residing in Marylebone, Cavendish Square, Middlesex, England. Occupation of Daniel: jeweller. Birth of daughter, Sophia Withers 24 Aug. 1860. Emigrated to Canada abt 1863. Story goes that Daniel carried family's personal wealth in a money belt that was stolen enroute to Canada. Settled in Lennox Co., Ontario Canada

My sister warned me that I would be seriously tempted but I decided not to be drawn off the North American continent in my tree building. Good intentions can easily be undermined by the excitement of the search. It didn't take me long to break free from that earlier resolution. I have crossed the waters twice in the last two days, finding the index on the marriage between Daniel Withers (02 June 1835 England) and Sophia Neale (abt 1838 England). The information I obtained through the FreeBMD Home Page was that the marriage occurred Sept. 1859 Reference: Kensington Vol 1a Page 202. Does that help?

Thanks for your updated info. I'm gathering the funeral home in the original question, is located in Kingston, Ontario. I did check your other posts, (which I should have checked earlier)and see that you have already received an answer to this query!

Anyway - I'm not sure how much info you have on your "Daniel & Sophia Wither's" from the UK, but my searches have found 2 families with those names from the 1851 & 1861 censuses via my World Wide membership. If you know exactly where they are from in England and are interested in receiving the images I've collected, then please contact me at my genealogy address - WorldWide.Genealogy.Services@ns.sympatico.ca

There is also another private on-line family tree connected to one of these couples, who you can contact to get further information.

My 'Withers' family search is focused around the Kingston, Frontenac, Ontario Canada as well as the Napanee, Lennox & Addington, Ontario Canada areas. Our Withers branch started here in Canada with the arrival of Daniel and Sophia Withers from England.

You have no need to apologize, and if you are related in some way to the "Withers" family, then this would have been a good choice to post your query! I would have done the same thing, as I have "Withers" in my family back in the UK, - that's why I watch this site's activity! And regarding "Kingston" - till a year ago I lived in Coldbrook, Nova Scotia, just 20 minutes from Kingston, Nova Scotia and back in the 50's I lived in La Salle Park and Hawthorne Park in Kingston, Ontario - hence my interest!

You still haven't identified which "Kingston" you were referring to though. I'd be pleased to help if at all possible!

I thought you might like to know that the book, A History of the Wither family by the Rev Reginald F. Bigg-Wither (ISBN 978-1-4251-3783-0 is now available. It covers the Wither family history from 1150 in Lancashire England up to 1907 and includes the families in the USA.
AS yet I have not found a connection for my family into this line but i'm sure that there is one hidden away some place.
I hope that the book might be of some use to you. Good luck with your research.

My grandparents,William Birrell Withers and Rena Lund Withers, along with several other family members were buried from the former funeral home located at 49 Colborne Street, Kingston. A new company has bought out the former establishment. Does anyone know the name of the previous one? Do funeral homes have online obituaries or archival records?

Christiana “Christina” Louisa BYRAM was born May 4, 1854 in Illinois to Adam and Sarah [HAND] BYRAM. She was orphaned at the age of 13 and lived with various siblings in Illinois and Missouri until she married Van R MERRITT on July 25, 1885 in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas. They had one son around 1886. Van died April 24, 1898. Christina then married a Mr. WITHERS between 28 FEB 1907 and 26 MAR 1909.
I am interested in determining when and where Christina died; possibly an obituary or burial site. Any additional information on her son (given name, birth date and place, death date and place) or her second husband Mr. WITHERS (given name, when and where he died, and when and where he married Christina) would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing what country, state, territory, province, county this particular "Kingston" is located in, it is impossible to do a follow-up for you! These posts are viewed worldwide, so being really specific would be a great help.

I know of at least 5 in the US, 2 in Canada, 1 in Jamaica and 1 in England. Can you please advise?

My Granfather, Louis Walter and Mina were brother and sister - both born in Aurora,Steele,MN Their Father, Henry , fought in the Civil War. When he came home he married a Dennijes girl. Have just come across your import re Withers. I'm not descended from them but an ancestor of mine Marrion Tayler was the 3rd wife of Edwin Owen. Married in 1910 she was then a widow, Marrion Mcnae. I see that Edwin's first wife was Marrion's sister-in-law, Sarah caroline Mcnae. The McNaes came from Brentford, Middlesex. Do you know if there is a connection between the Withers of Bucks and those in Brentford?

I am Mike Withers born in Tifton Ga. My great grand father was Jack Withers and I know he had a brother Bob/Robert Withers. His sons were Robert and Curtis (Curtis being my grand father) 3 or 4 daughters Pauleene, Delorse, Betty Jean, I cant remember the other one or maybe 2. Jack married Fanny back in the late 1800s and I know my grand father Curtis was born in 1926. My mother is Angie Withers I kept her name since she never married my father. I as well have 4 kids I have Gabirel, Hope, Zane, and a step daughter Kelsey. I live at this time in Elizabethtown Ky. I am a disabled vet from 3 yrs of being in Iraq. I am just wondering if I have any family out there that knows I would love to have more than my mom out there since everyone else is dead now.

My great Grand Fathers name was Jack Withers he had a brother Bob Withers and was married to Fanny Withers. He dided back in the 70s sometimes and the rest of my family is dead as well I am the last of that line.

I dont know much about6 my family we are from South Ga. the Tifton Ga. area and I heard that my great grand father Bob Withers was from North Georgia area he married Fanny Withers as I dont know her maidan name back in the late 1800s they were my great grand parents. My grand father is/was Curtis Withers and he had many sisters and one brother. I am the only one left in this chain that I know because I have never met any other Withers that knew or know my family. Since you are asking about Withers from Ga. I thought maybe you would make a connection.
