I have traced my Great Great Grandmother Ellen Whitney/ Witney back to Reading Berkshire, UK born in 1846 to James Whitney and Sarah Willis. I believe James was from Tilehurst, Berkshire son of James and Ann Whitney, James' father John Witney was also born in Tilehurst abt 1767. to Richard Witney and Sarah Norris. From there my best guess from the IGI is that Richard was from Blewbury, Berks, UK born abt 1740 to John Witney and Mary Huggil. If anyone has some Whitneys or Witneys from Berkshire please contact me. Thanks
