CLIFTON Wixon & wife DOROTHY - Caddo Par., Louisiana, 1900's

Tracing Dorothy, whom I believe to have been Dorothy STRINGER, b. 1916 in Caldwell Parish, LA, d/o James STRINGER and Rose WESTON STRINGER.
She had sister Thelma and brother Tonie (my grandfather)
Thelma lived Corpus Christi TX, md. Cosmo "Sam" DiVincenzo
Tonie was career Army from 1917 to death in 1931. Lived NY md. Florence Edna Armstrong.
Dorothy has been a mystery. HAVE PHOTOS of her as a young girl to share.
She is on the census with her "parents" James & Rose Stringer, ONLY ONCE in 1930, at ae. 13y. She SHOULD be there previous, and after, but IS NOT, and I can't find her anywhere before 1930 or after!
Photos were developed in San Antonio TX. in 1927, though I believe they were taken in Clarks, Caldwell Par. LA, a lumber town where the Stringers lived and worked. Stringers orig. from MO.
Dorothy MAY have been an illeg. d/o either Thelma or Tonie, but is listed in her Grandmother Rose's obit as her own dau., as well as on the 1930 census.
SSDI and Corpus Christi Obits are sources.
Looking for any relatives from this side of the family. Lost for many years as my mother's father (Tonie) died when she was only 4.
Thanks!

I had a talk with Earl Mills Sr today who was a chief, and got a lot of useful information.

He said that there have been a lot of Wixons in the Wampanoag tribe, including the writer of these articles:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~massasoit/ccod01.ht...

They were published in the INDEPENDENT newspaper in 1928, written by Red Shell. Earl Mills, who was a friend of Red Shell, said that his name was Clarence Wixon.

I will be getting more info from Earl soon. He is going to be making some phone calls and some searching for me.

And by the age of 2 years old was living in the home of James Berry according to the 1860 census. In 1870 census was still using the name Wixon. But by 1880 census was listed as Albert M Berry of Dennis,Ma and was still livng with the Berry family. Would like to know his birth parents names and a death date for Albert Wixon/Berry. I do know in 1880 when he married he used the surname of Berry also and that marriage took place in Dennis,Ma also. thanks for any help. ~Meg

Reuben G. WIXON, Putnam, NY

Six WIXON children—George, Henry, Isaac, Lewis, Edward, Augusta WIXON-- living in six different households in Westchester/Putnam/Dutchess NY and Danbury CN (1880 Census). All households related to Mary STANSBURY/Reuben G. WIXON marriage. For example, Henry WIXON, 15 years old, living with James TOMPKINS and Prudence WIXON TOMPKINS, as a "nephew." (Prudence and Reuben G. WIXON were sister and brother.) Using 1880 census data, family tree for Reuben G. WIXON (b. abt 1836 Putnam, d. 1911, Yonkers, NY) shows his children to be George (b.abt 1862), Henry (b.abt 1865), Isaac (b.abt 1866), Lewis (b.abt 1872), Edward (b. abt 1873) and Augusta (b.abt 1874). Does this make sense? Please send comments, suggestions and more information. Need info on Reuben G. and Isaac WIXON. Beginner, help!
In updating my ALMY data, I came across xerox copies of cards for the surname Wixom, Wixsom, Wixon, from the card file of the Seneca Co. Historian's office, made for me many years ago. This surname is not one of my ancestral families but it is connected to my Almy family. I would like to send these to someone who can use them - I can scan and send as attachments or just throw the 4 pp into an envelope and snail mail. I do not need them and am trying to weed out my accumulation of "stuff" gathered over the years. It all may be old information to many of you, but, on the other hand, who knows what tid bit lies within?

Wixon graveyard desecration please help

To Wixon's who have family from Placer Co., CA

Please get out your pen and paper and start writing letters to put a stop to desecration of one of our collateral family's grave sites. I will let you know where to send them soon.

This is happening in Placer Co. to our Wixon family grave yard that was once in the yard of the old Franklin House. Electa Wixon if you will recall is the daughter of James Newberry and Mary Smith Newberry.

What follows is a plea from Carmel Barry who is the contact who has been instrumental in our finding this line.

I have contacted Mr. Kennedy, but only left my name and number on his recorder.
----------------

Hi Sue,

I just got a call from Whitney Kennedy who owns property next to the location of the Franklin House and the family cemetery for the Wixon/Mansur family. He reported that a lady real estate agent now owns the property and wants to build there. Apparently she has been denied abuilding permit because of the graves and has had some men removing the gravestones. Mr. Kennedy caught them and stopped them and replaced onestone.

I am going to call the Planning Dept to see what is going on but did want you to know what is going on.

Carmel Barry-Schweyer
Placer County Department of Museums
Wixon ancestry

Hello, (from, janevalcf@aol.com )

There is a wonderful Wixon site, I believe it is a Family Tree Maker web page, where I found my all my Wixon ancestors and more. When I find it again, I will post it.

My Asenath WIXON, b. 1808, daughter of Shubel WIXON (and his father was Shubel WIXON, and it goes back four more generations), married James SAXON, both of New York. The Wixon family came to New York from MI, where they first settled. They are in the Mayflower Descendants Books, and if someone finds those records please let me know because I don't have copies. Robert, b. 1630, was originally from England. There's a lot if information about the Saxon, Wixon, Townsend, Casterline family connections.

Please contact me, so we can exchange information. Regards, Janeva Frisby
janevalcf@aol.com
