Re: Katharin or Catherine Woeger married to Louis C. Ritter - Ridgewood, Bklyn., NY

I would love to see the Woeger family crest. Also, I am finding that the census takers in 1900 and 1920 were not that concerned with the spelling of names. I have found the name my great great grandmother listed as Catherine Woeger, Katharin Woeger and Katie Woeger. My great great grandfather was listed as both Michael and Michiel Woeger and Wieger. I have seen documents within our family that convince me that Woeger is the correct spelling, but I am having trouble finding that name on most genealogical web sites.
Is that town you mentioned in the north of Germany or south? I know the Ritters were from the North.

Milford? & Katie Woeger of Germany, residing in Ridgewood, NY 1900

I am searching for ancestors and decendants of Mi???d (first name was writting over in 1900 NYC census doc.) and wife Katie (Catherine or Katherine) Woeger. Both were born in Germany and were made citizens in NYC 1870. Milford was born in March 1847 and Katie was born in May 1849. They were married 30 years already by 1900 and had 7 children of which only 4 were still living. I only know the name of two of their children, Catherine A. Woeger Ritter (my great great grandmother) and her sister Mary, who was 17 in 1900.
They owned a house on St. Nicholas Avenue in Ridgewood, Brooklyn, Kings County, NYC and lived next door to their daughter Catherine A. (also Katie), who had married my great grandfather, Louis C. Ritter and already had 3 of their 4 children and was pregnant with the 4th.

I am a Woeger and I know that the German Woeger's that are my ancerstors came from a town in German called Snottheim (sp?) which is now called a town Heidenheim on the Brenz river. I have visited there in the mid 1980s and their are many Woegers that live there. I have found a few other Woeger's in the USA whom I have never known about before. I have a Woeger family crest and my Grandmother (Marie Woeger) and Gradfather Jakob Woeger came to the USA in the early 1920s from Germany and settled in Philadelphia, PA. Conatct me if I can be of any assistance to you.
