Although I am aware that there were many Wolff families in Ostvriesland (East Friesland), Germany prior to WWII who were not related, I would still be interested in making contact with the possibility of finding relatives.

WOLFFs in Michigan

Franz Josef (Francis Joseph) Wolff (b.abt.1810)emigrated from Wuerttemberg. He married Johanna Weber possibly in Wuerttemberg because there is a family story that a baby may have been buried at sea. Two children were born in Marine City, Michigan: Philomena (b.12/20/1857) and Peter Frederick (b.3/6/1854). Philomena married John Yeip (Yeup) and Peter married Charlotte Bohen (sic). Many children were had by all. Interested in anyone who has knowledge of these families, and, especially, the very early histories.

I am searching for the ancestors of my great-great grandfather, Rev. George Wolff. Reverend Wolff was the founding minister of the German Reformed Church in Myerstown, Pennsylvania in the mid to later 1800's. I am having difficulty locating his forebearers. We have a connection to Adams Co. (Gettysburg area), but these Wolff's are either brothers or cousins. Can anyone shed any light on this branch of my family? Thanks very much.

Larisa (Wolff) Miller

I am trying to help my boyfriend trace his ancestory. His name is Jack Leonard Wolff, originally from Ridgway, PA. His father is Luther Wolff and mother was Diane Rearick. We know that the ancestry goes back to Germany but then they received a letter stating to cease the search from a department of the German government, something about the Nazi Regime. Most of his family now recides in St. Mary's and Ridgway, PA. If you have any information or have ever heard of receiving such a letter, please contact us.

They were in order of birth: Michael, Catherine, Julian, Jacob, George and Mary. DOB vary from 1834 to 1848. Michael married Josephine ? and had 3 Children all from Utica. I am decended from Jacob who married Margaret Bowan and had six children.: Mary, Ida, Albert, Cora, Clarence and Roy. Clarence Married Elizabeth Ward from Collingwood Canada. They had one son Roy Leonard Wolff who married Joyce Roskrow Thoams also of Canada. They had 3 sons and one daughter in the Rochester NY area. Any help would be appreciated.

Wolff family in Michigan

I am researching my grandfather's family. His grandfather, Ferdinand, was born in Friedeberg, Germany on 9/8/1831 and died on 10/21/1921. He married Amelia Lambrecht dob 5/18/1826 died 7/23/1904. They married on 5/18/1855. They had 7 children, Charles 5/16/1868 to 5/10/1872, Mary dob 11/25/1896 married Bernard Diehl, August 1/4/1871 to 1/3/1917 married Julia Bobcean 9/7/1876 to 9/21/1943, wed on 4/6/1899 and Herman, who was my grandfathers father, he married Mary Sawitsky 3/1/1866 to 3/1/1902. All I know is that they had several children and according to family tales only my grandfather, Frederick, and a younger sister, Herma survived several illnesses in the family. They lived in Mt. Clemens Macomb County MI where Ferdinand had a shoe store on Front St. He had two sisters, Jewel and Cora, who had a hat store in Mt. Clemens. Any information especially on Herman would be greatly appreciated. Contact me at 7mab@home.com

Helen (Gutman) Wolff, b. 1877, wife of Edward Thygesen Wolff, lived Racine Co., WI

I have an original studio photograph of “Helen Gutman Wolff”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1900, in Racine (Racine Co.) WI, and Helen looks to be in her early 20s.

I found Helen Gutman in OneWorldTree, listed with DOB 20 Dec 1877, married to Edward Thygesen Wolff. There was a Gutman family living in Racine Co., WI at the time of the 1910 census, but obviously Helen was already married by then.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Helen Gutman Wolff.

Jacob Wolff, Died 1859, Baden Germany > Belmont, CA

SUICIDE - Coroner McCLURE held an inquest Wednesday last, on the body of a man found on a hill about half a mile west of Belmont, in this county.Upon examination it was ascertained that deceased had killed himself by blowing out his brains with a shot-gun, which was found lying by his side and which he had discharged with his foot, a string having been carefully attached to the triggers for the purpose. A receipt for rent from George MOODY, San Francisco, and a memorandum of gold dust deposited with
Haraathy, Uznay & Co. for assay together with a number of other papers, several articles of clothing, $40.85 in money, and a silver watch, were found in a valise and upon the body. By the paper his name is suppose to have been Jacob WOLFF, a native of Baden, Germany. There is no clue to the
cause of the rash act. The body was very much decayed, having lain, as estimated by in accordance with the facts as above stated. The gun with which WOLFF killed himself is double-barreled, one barrel only of which has been discharged. On drawing the load from the remaining
barrel, it was found to consist of a large charge of powder and seven heavy six-penny nails.

San Mateo County Gazette
Redwood City, San Mateo County, California
Saturday Morning, April 9, 1859, Vol. 1 No. 1.

Jacob, David, Michael(2), Wolfgang Wolff - Philly, 1754

These 4 WOLFF's took-the-Oath, 30 Sep 1754, Philly, PA. Aready in Philly by Oct 1750 were Magdalena WOLFF (m. Christian Ritschart) and her mother WOLFF (of 80 yrs) and their RITSCHART Family. In 1766 Magdalena died, in PA, and her Will was 'read'.

By 1770 the BLESSING Family, (dau Elizabeth Ritschart m. Jacob Blessing, 1755, Berks) was in Shenandoah Co, VA; and abt 1820, a grandson Abraham Blessing, b. 1794 is said to have married 'his cousin' Eliza WOLF -- all in Shenandoah Co, VA. Jacob Blessing was on the same ship, the 'Richard and Mary' from Rotterdam, as the 4 Wolff's in 1754, probably Elizabeth's cousins or uncle and cousins.

Does anyone's line go back to any of these Wolff's?

My family name goes back for generations but I know little of the history. My father and his father both have the same name, but I never spent any time with either of them. My father was born in Texas in 1954 and his father was in the Marines. Any info would be awesome!
email at greeneyeddevil88@yahoo.com

Seeking earlier info - George Wolf. (imm.1751 to PA from Alsace)

I have documentation of my family history dating back to George Wolf, who immigrated to Pennsylvania from the Alsace region of (current) France on October 4, 1751. This info has served me well for many years, but now I'm looking for information dating back earlier.

Does anyone have any information or sources regarding George Wolf's life in Alsace-Lorrain? I'm hoping to find some sort of (more accurate) coat of arms, but would love to have any information on him, or a place to start my research. I can read German so even if your documentation is writtein in German, I would love to take a look at it.

I am trying to confirm that it was one of my ancestors, Lillian E. Dain (Newark, NJ) , who married Rudolph Wolff between 1910-1920. The Rudolph & Lillian listed on the 1920 census had a daughter Doris in 1919 (South Orange/Maplewood, NJ). My ancestor Lillian (married name Wolff) died in April 1921 age 38. On the 1930 census, Rudolph is shown as married to Mary K., a daughter Doris, plus other children Lenore & Richard (Madison, NJ).
I would like to confirm this Lillian E. Wolff is my ancestor, I believe she is based on the info here on Ancestry, cemetery records, and the family plot itself.
Coincidentally, my Lillian's mother's maiden name is Caroline Wolf (one "F").
Any info appreciated, and will gladly share any info you'd like from my side of the family!

It is from Moore's Photographic Studio, 180 West Madison Street. The picture is faded but the child looks from about 1910 or so. Any relative may have it for $5.

Henry Woolf / Wolff Descendents - Oxford, Adams Co., Pennsylvania

I am searching for the ancestors of my ggg-grandfather, Henry Woolf of Oxford, Adams Co., Pennsylvania. I have his handwritten will, dated 08 Jan 1859. He left a sum of money to each child, and as they received the monies, they each signed the document stating receipt of their share. Signers were George Wolff (my gg-grandfather), D.W. Wolff, Joseph Wolff, another Wolff who's first two initials I cannot make out, and daughter, Elizabeth Thomas. Henry mentions another daughter Sarah in the text of his will.
I would greatly appreciate any help in locating Henry's ancestors. I have family documents stating that we are decendents of Peter Wolff/Wolf, and Conrad Wolff, but I cannot seem to connect the dots. I suspect that Peter may be Henry's father, but have nothing on which to base this assumption. I have a bill from my gg-grandfather's (George Wolff) school of theology, that was sent to his father, Henry, in New Oxford, Adams Co., Pennsylvania.

Thanks in advance for any help. I would appreciate any clues to help me climb over the brick wall I've seemingly hit.

Kind regards,
Larisa (Wolff) Miller
