Yes! I have found Jacob and Rose but could be Rosa. My Grandmother was Eliza Elizabeth Wolford. I have spent a very long time trying to find her. Finaly under the spelling of Wolfred, George C 1900 US Census. I can only trace back, so far, to Jacob, was so excited to find grandmother, I haven't gone to far back. Please contact me We can research togather

Just thought I'd jump in and let you know that my husband's Wolford ancestors were from Indiana PA and we now reside in NY state. He is descended from Daniel and Nancy (Wissinger) Wolford thought their son Jacob (who resided in Rochester NY) and his son Robert. Daniel is descended from Christian Wolford who came to PA from Germany ca. 1739 if my memory is correct.

Jim! You left Vermont, and moved back to The Ancestral Homeland!! I'll never forget your looking up some of my "PATCH" information. Subsequently I found William Patch's wife, Sophronia Adalade (or Adolade) WRIGHT and learned that her father Daniel WRIGHT had headed to the mid-West and founded a town.
Are you still doing RAOGK work?
I have again been dragged back into genealogy (never decide to look up "just this ONE ancestor"..once you succeed you're hooked again!) and am trying to tidy up my husband's family tree.
I am trying to get the correct lineage for Christian Wolford, back to Germany (back to a "Hans?")..have lots of leads but nothing I can really write down permanently in pen!
My husband is related to Christian through..John ? and back to George also? He is descended from Christian's son Daniel and then Daniel's son Jacob and then his son Robert, Gene's father.
When you're unpacked, I would so appreciate whatever information you could share.
Warmly, Barbara Wolford bwolford@stny.rr.com
I have a Belle Wolford, dau of William Wolford of WV. I don't have dates or personal info on Belle other than her siblings are Sarah, Anna, Richard, and Joseph. William, it appears, married 3 times, b. 1823, d 2 Oct 1906, buried Quaker Graveyard, 6 miles East of Romney, West Virginia.

Another possibility is a Bell Wolford, dau of Richard and Phoebe. Bell, (could be spelled several ways) married to J W SHULL, appears to be from WV as well. Her parents lived in Hampshire Co in early 1800s, moved to Mineral County, West Virginia, in the 1850s.

This is all assuming your Belle in the picture is single and hasn't married into the Wolford family and changed her name.

Hello distant cousin:

I'm a great great great grandson of Michael Casner (Kasner, Casnor, Casnar, Cassner, Kassner, Castner, Kastner, take your pick). He and Elizabeth married 1828/1829 in Coshocton County, moved to Hancock County 1829 (first reported, although he's still listed in Coshocton Washington Township 1830 census. Michael died in 1851 and is buried at Earlywine Cemetery southwest of Mt. Blanchard in Hancock County. Elizabeth moved to Kosciusko County Indiana and is listed with son Samuel in 1860 census. She is listed in 1870 census one county (Marshall) west of Kosciusko, and I believe (still subject to inquiry) at county home in Story County Iowa in 1880. She died there in 1889. She and Michael had four sons: Samuel, Frederick, John and William, my great great grandfather. I believe Elizabeth located with Frederick who was enumerated in Story County in 1856 during first Iowa census. Let me know if any of this helps. I'm still stumped trying to locate origin of John Kassner, Michael's father, as I suspect you may be.

Thanks David for the quick reply. Well this is what I know, my grandfather Odos B. Wolford was born in 1926 and his mother's name at the time was Bessie Keener, but then on his birth certificate it states his father was a Frank Strosnider but Bessie always told my grandfather that Odos O. Wolford was his father and I have my grandfather's attendance records in school and he was known as Junior Wolford!!!! We maybe Strosnsiders or we may be Wolfords! Like I said in my first thread that I have a copy of Odos Otho Wolford's death certificate and it does state that he was living with a Bessie Strosnider and one of the stories that my grandfather has told me is that O.O. Wolford died at their home and that one of Carrie and Odos' children came over after his death and asked for the "cow" back!!! So that tells me that both women knew about the other. Eek!

You can see and print out Odos Otho's death cerificate, as well as Carrie's death certificate, on WV vital records website, they have a ton for free which has been quite helpful with a lot of my family members.

My father is named David Wolford as well!! After finding these documents I have just gotten more and more interested as well as confused. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
I am hoping that someone can help me. I am a Wolford by maiden name and my grandfather's father is possibly Odos Otho Wolford. I am embarrassed to post this but I feel that my grandfather could be the product of an affair that happened between Odos Otho Wolford and Bessie Strosnider. Bessie is my mystery person in my family tree. I have located Odos Otho's death certificate and it states that he was living with her but I know he was still married to Carrie. Does anyone have any stories regarding this Bessie? Thank you very much!

my greatgrandfather as far as I know died away from Carrie. I have been to his grave and he is buried in Shinnston WV. Otis died of a lung disorder. there are stories of him having a second family near Shinnston. my otis was born before 1926 because my grandfather was born in 1901. My father stated thathe met otis right before he died, and that was the only time except for the funeral and he was a little one then. Otis was a taboo subject for a long time in the family for obvious reasons. I have pictures of Otis plus copies of his marriage and death records. You can e-mail and I'll send them to you. Contact me @ dwolford28@hotmail.com. It will be a couple of days since I am out of town and sending this on my phone. From the stories I have heard it is very possible that Otis is part of your family and you may be a Wolford. If so welcome to the family you may have never knew you where a part of! And it was talked about that my greatgrandmother (Carrie) knew about the other woman in his life. As far as the child coming to the house it could have been my grandfather or my great uncle Jack who by the way is still alive.

Yes "Many Years Ago" I did publish The Wolford Connection but ran out of material and living in Vermont was too far away from the Wolford-Wohlford etc areas. But things change. I am now Jim In Dover. Dover, York Co. PA right smack in the middle of Wolford Country. I retired and moved here. I am near where my 4th great grandfather, Philip (1) Wolford lived in West Manheim Twp and not too far from Gettysburg. A couple of weeks ago I helped a lady in BC with her Wolford Connection. She connects to the Wolfords in York Co through her Garret family. I would love to help anyone with Wolford ties to this neighborhood.

I have a treasure trove of Wolford information too. I believe the Wolfords in Westmoreland to be related to or descended from George Wolford of Lancaster Co PA. 1726 - 1794. He was married to Elizabeth Zimmerman. His parents were Johannes Wolford and Anna Maria Agatha (Zimmerman?) of Berks Co PA. I descend from George's brother Philip 1743-1812. Most of my treasure is just being unpacked from my move from Vermont back to PA. I have posted here under other user names. Jim Avery, Dover PA
