Hello Ian,
Please see my website at www.annebrooks.ca
I have done considerable work on this Wonnacott / Brooks connection. Have yet find the marriage, but do believe Samuel Wonnacott married Mary Brooks. On the website go to the marriage and see my notes on the decision to connect them. You can contact me directly through the website. Thanks, Anne

Anne
Are you sure it was John Wonnacott she married? The only John Wonnacotts that I know of on PEI before 1900 were:

John Wonnacott married to Mary Jane Ham.
Their son John that married Jane Henderson then Elizabeth Henry.
John Henderson Wonnacott
John Dalziel Wonnacott

Try checking for a marriage between Sanuel Wonnacott and Mary Brooks probably in Buffalo, I believe that's where Samuel died around 1929. They would have been married around 1876.

Good luck and keep me posted.
H. Winnacott foster child of a Pellow family 189? to 1914.

Henrietta Winnacott was born on Sept. 19, 1890 in St. Austell Cornwall England.
She had a sister. It's not known if there were other children.
It has been said her parents were not married.

At a young age she was given away to a family with the surname Pellow. She had a foster sister named Rosa.
Pictures of girls in this family indicate they were albino.
Henrietta's natural sister was given to another family.

A lady who was very kind to her was known only as Grandma Honey.
Henrietta married Alfred J. Trebilcock July 4 1914, in St. Austell.
They and one child immigrated to the US in 1920.

Does anyone have a little girl who was given to the Pellow's in their family tree? We know little about my Grandmother's biological family.

Henrietta's sister in law, lived in Cornwall all her life, her name was Bessie Trebilcock Algar.
Another name in the mix is Lagar.

Henrietta's Mother in Law's maiden name was Pope.

PAL

My grandfather born in England came to the states in the early 20's. His name was Sidney George Wonnacott. His wife was Emily Evely. Most of the Wonnacott's I am familiar with are in Michigan and in Canada, with a few in England. Emily and Sidney had 7 children; Amy, Sid, Norman (Bill), Louis, Stanley, Raymond and Denton. Not sure if we are related or not, but it sounds as if we may be, if not distantly.

Hi Sandra, I noticed your post about the Wonnacott family that lived in Michigan. I have some family sheets that have some info on Fannie Wonnacott, sister of George Wonnacott. Fannie Wonnacott married George Challenger in Elgin Co., Ontario. Fannie was the daughter of Ascott Wonnacott and Anna Sanders. I am not related to the Wonnacott family, I only come into it as George Challenger had a son, Leng Challenger that married Elizabeth Robb. Elizabeth Robb was my gg grandmother, Mary Robb Davis'
sister. Leng and Elizabeth had four children, Ethel, Norman, Alma and Darwin.
Sincerely, Penny

Hello again Barbara, I just studied your message and am still excited about all of the information. I think Arthur was the only child of Alice Heard and Charles Wonnacott, because we have a piece of paper where my mom's aunt Ethel wrote a very basic family tree concerning two generations. Alice Heard Wonnacott was the aunt of mom's aunt Ethel and Arthur would have been Ethel's (and my grandfather's) first cousin. I can help your Aunt Jeanne with names and dates of my grandfather's siblings and parents. My great grandfather Harry John Heard was the older brother of Alice Heard Wonnacott. My mom, brother and I visited St. Thomas, ON, where they were born and found information in the library. We are also in contact with descendants of Frederick, the youngest brother of Harry John and Alice Heard. There was another brother Charles and two more sisters Emma and Mary in that family - I have their dates and married names but no information about their descendants. We do have information about the parents of Alice Heard, especially her father (my gr gr grandfather) John Holmes Heard, and we have visited the village in Devon, England where he came from. Alice's mother was Emma Sargent and she was born on the Isle of Jersey. As you see I can possibly help with the Heard information but don't know much about the Wonnacotts. There is a researcher who has done quite a bit on the Wonnacotts and I am sure he would like to hear from you too. As for me, I am hoping that your Aunt Jeanne has pictures of her grandmother Alice (my mom, who is also Alice, called her Lala). She may also be able to identify a few old pictures in my mom's album. Looking forward to hearing from you. Adie Agnew

Hello Barbara, What a lot of information. Thanks so much. My mom will turn 90 in a couple of weeks and is very curious about her family. She grew up in Lakewood, OH, outside of Cleveland, but apparently the families didn't see each other. I will study your message. Are you a descendant of Alice Heard and Charles Wonnacott and their son Arthur, or was Arthur the step father to your mother? In any case I am very happy to have all of your information. My email address is agnew@madsen.tdcadsl.dk. Yours, Adie Agnew

Check World Tree Ancesty.com for Jesse and his parents George and Lousia (Lincoln) Wonnacott. George and family lived in Gratiot County, Michigan. From 1859 thur 1930 . The line Iam tracing is Jesse brother's Arthur Henry, He went by both names. I just stated traced this family. Doing it for a cousin of my Mother-in Law.

To Jill Waters,
I have just come across your enquiry Re: Wonnocotts in Australia. I suppose that by now you have obtained the information you required but, in case you were not successful, I thought I would drop you a line.
I am on the same family line as yourself (my mother was Thelma Frances Wonnocott) and I have researched a fair amount of the genealogy. I suppose that someone has brought to your attention that when Ann (Ware) Wonnocott emigrated on the Stebonheath in 1858, there was actually a sixth sibling, Joseph W. Just why his name was not on the passenger list is a bit of a mystery but, in those times, passengers often assumed an alias.
Anyhow, if you would like to compare notes, please contact me on bwade@hotkey.net.au.

Hello Sheila,

I was wondering if you have come across a Maryann Wonnacott? She was the mother of my grandfather, who was born in 1882. The only information I have regarding Maryann is that she married Richard Bryan Kavanagh (a Sergeant in the British Army). I have found a Sergeant Richard Kavanagh on the 1881 census at The Raglan Barracks, Devonport.

Thanks and regards

Lorraine
