Woodfield, Father Robert Charles
Father Robert Charles Woodfield 1920 - 2007 We are deeply saddened by the passing of Father Robert Woodfield on December 23, 2007. He was born on March 19, 1920 in Troy, NY to James and Julia (Greer) Woodfield. He graduated from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY and Seabury Western Seminary in Evanston, IL. He was ordained to the priesthood in the Episcopal Church in St. Paul's Parish, Duluth, MN in 1948 by Bishop Stephen Keeler, and married Donna Cummings in 1949. Father Woodfield served parishes in Duluth, MN; Clearfield, PA; Grand Prairie, TX; Dallas, TX; Birmingham, AL; San Diego, CA; Rialto, CA and Long Beach, CA. He retired from the active ministry in 1985 and volunteered in parishes since that time. In 1951, he joined the United States Army and spent one year in Korea where he recieved the Bronze Star Medal. After three years active duty, he retired and served in the Army Reserves until 1973. He served as Volunteer Chaplain at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital for over ten years. Father Woodfield was active in many organizations. He lived in Leisure World, Seal Beach for 22 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; sister, Mary Russell of Phoenix, AZ; son, James (Marta) Woodfield; daughter, Julie (Mark) Worth of San Jacinto, CA; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, but is happily with his Lord. Funeral services will be on January 5, 2008, 3pm at All Saints Angelican Parish, 346 Termino Avenue, Long Beach, CA. He will be interred in All Saints Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be se nt to All Saints Memorial Fund. Stricklin/Snively Mortuary (562)426-3365
