I am looking for ancestors of Mariah Elizabeth Woodfin, b. 1855 in Tennessee. She may be a grandaughter of Nicholas Woodfin, an attorney who defended Frankie Silver, accused of murdering her husband in 1830. She became the first woman hanged in North Carolina in 1833. Mariah was my great-grandmother. She married Benjamin Franklin Hood in 1872 in Bollinger Co., Missouri. They moved to Ripley Co., Missouri where they raised a large family. I don't know where in Tennessee she was born. Thanks for any help.
