I believe she was a teacher at the English High School in Worcester.

I would like to return her to her family. If you are related to her and want the photo, let me know.
Robert Woodman from Devon

My great-great-grandfather, Robert Woodman b 1783, settled in New Harbour, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland about 1812. We believe he was born in Devon, England but do not know the town or parish. He married a local woman named Priscilla and their first son, William, was born in 1815. Other sons were named John, James, Edward and Robert. Daughters were named Catherine, Priscilla and Hannah. Subsequent generations generally repeat these names with the addition of Mary, Thomas and Frederick. Although these are popular names, they may be a clue to the family. Folklore has it that there were brothers who also emigrated, but we have no specifics. If your family has a Robert born in that time frame, but no marriage or death record, or a story of sons who left for North America, I would be delighted to hear from you. Suggestions to solve this mystery are appreciated. Many thanks. Paul.

Does anyone have data on the origins and parentage of Edward Woodman, husband of Remember Maverick? I've seen a lot of pedigrees that have him as a son or grandson of Edward Woodman of Newbury by his wife Joanna. However, a lot of the data for the Newbury Woodmans does not fit the man who was married to Remember Maverick.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has data/sources to shed light on this issue.
Thanks

(1951) & Robert (1955), all born in Cardiff with a mothers maiden name of DOUGLAS. However, I was unable to find a corresponding marriage (the only 2 Woodman-Douglas marriages I found were both female Woodman's and neither were in Wales). Can you confirm your grandmothers naiden name was Douglas and if they married in England or Wales?

My great-grand Uncle Rowland married a girl from Cardiff and spent the rest of his life there but it appears we are not related at this stage.

Bill Woodman
Auckland, New Zealand

woodmans from cardiff, wales

I'm new to this family tree searching and have little knowledge already. All I know is that my dad, Robert(Bob) Woodman was born in Cardiff in 1955, and was the youngest of 3 brothers, Fred and Tom. I'm unsure of my grandfathers name as he passed away before I was born.
I know this is a limited amount of information, but if anyone has any information, I would love to hear from you.
Thanks
Su

Re: Parentage of Edward Woodman who married Remember Maverick

I recently discovered descent from Edward 2 Woodman who married abt. 1627 Joanna Salway.
My next generation is Jonathan 3 Woodman who married Hannah Hilton daughter of Captain William2 Hilton and Sarah Greenleaf Hilton. William 1 Hilton and his brother Edward are considered the founders of NH so I was quite excited about that.
Today I looked in Mayflower Increasings and saw that Remember Maverick married Edward Woodman so I wonder if he is related to my Woodmans who came from Wiltshire, England.
Marilyn

Hi Mike,

Here is the procedure to find the gravestones -

If you go to the main search screen for Find-A-Grave (for non-famous people)and type "woodman" in the last name field, then go down towards the bottom and in "cemetery in:" pick United States, then pick Maine, then click search and you will get all the Woodman's that have been entered in the state of Maine. Scroll down through the search results list and you will see several in Lower Corner Cemetery, New Gloucester. If you click on one of those you should see a menu on the left side of the page and there should be an option to find other Woodmans listed in Lower Corner Cemetery. Hope that helps.

The following website lists a number of Woodmans - http://genealogy.theroyfamily.com/index.htm

Wow, I finally found your message. I'm getting back to
genealogy. I'm having trouble finding Quaker records for
the Valley meeting (was part of the Radnor meeting). I wanted a copy of the minutes where Sarah Stephens was disowned.

I also can't seem to verify that Benjamin Smith Woodman was the son of Henry Woodman and Mary Smith. He doesn't show up in any census record with his father Henry. Do you have any copies of records for Benjamin?

I'm off to check out your tree. Thank you, Susan P.

Sorry it's been a long time in responding.
I am married to a Woodman who traces her ancestry back to the Woodmans of Newbury MA.

I notice you have a lot of them in your lineage inclusing some back to Newbury and probably share some of them. Someone on the web has published a big history of the family. If you're interested I'll try to find that place again.

My wife came from Norway. Her father was Heman Woodman who owned Woodman's Sporting Goods Store there. His family came from Lewiston/Augusta area
I would be interested in the Photos you mentioned.

I also have a genealogy of the Woodman family. There's a copy in the New England Genealogical Society library.Let me know if you would like any info.

Sincerely, Mike Amato (not related to the sub shop owners)

I have recently come into possession of two Bibles, both handed down to my father by William's daughter Ethel Elster (Bateman) who died in 1971. One is inscribed "To William Woodmam from his affectionate aunt, Mary Harris, May 1st 1852." The second has "Charity Harris, D'Hasitree?, Jersey, 1846." The next page has "William Woodman, borm 1851 at sea, birth registered Adelaide. (Different writing for this next one.) Samuel Henry Woodman, born on 25 day of May 1854 at Muckleford."

We had a family reunion in 1976 at William's farm, but it also included all Samuel of Muckleford's descendants we could find at the time. Samuel Snr's youngest daughter Alice also married and lived in our district, and we knew many of the the Muckleford lot and the Tatura rellies. Jenny

Researching William Joseph Woodman born in Kensington London in 1867 he was married twice, three daughters from his marriage in 1888, I am interested in tracing folk from his second marriage to Edith Louisa nee Hyland in 1906. This union produced four children, one of whom was my father-in law George Joseph Eric[Woodman], he had an older brother Ernest John[Jack] and two older sisters Edie, [who died when she was just 21] and Doris born in 1911. Thanks from Richard and Rita in Queensland Australia.
