Your account of the Wodrow Family of Paisley and elsewhere in Scotland is intererting and useful. However, you are incorrect about how Woodrow Wilson was connected to the family. President Thomas Woodrow Wilson (1856-1923) was the son of the Rev. Joseph Ruggles Wilson and Janet E. Woodrow (1826-1888). His mother immigrated to the U.S. with her family in 1836 when she was 9 years of age. Her father was the Rev. Thomas Woodrow (1793-1877), who was the pastor of the Independent Church in Carlisle, England. He had been born in Paisley, Scotland on 15 March 1793, the son of John Wodrow and Jane Morton. The Rev. Thomas Woodrow intentionally changed the spelling of his last name, because when he moved to England, and subsequently to the United States, he decided it was best to preserve the pronunciation of his surname, so added an "o" in order to do so.
The lineage of President Wilson's direct line, so far as I have been able to determine, is as follows:
1. Robert Wodrow, d. 1672. Married Agnes Dunlop, d. 1653.
2. James Wodrow (1637-1707). Married Janet Luke, d. 1733.
3. John Wodrow (b. 1695). Married Sofia Douglas.
4. John Wodrow, married Jean Sclater 12 Jan. 1751, Paisley.
5. John Wodrow (1765-1837), of Paisley. Married Janet Morton 27 Sept. 1787 in Paisley.
6. Rev. Thomas Woodrow,b. Paisley 15 March 1793. d. Columbus, Ohio 25 April 1877. Married 8 March 1820, Gorbals, Glasgow, Scotland to Marion Williamson (1791-1836).
7. Janet E. Woodrow (1826-1888) married 1849 in Chillicothe, OhioRev. Joseph Ruggles Wilson (1822-1903).
8. Thomas Woodrow Wilson (1856-1923), President of the United States.

I am looking for some info i\on this person as she was my fathers first wife. They apparently married soon after her graduated and was married while he in the Navy. My dads name was Lowell Eugene Long. All I have is her name and that they divorced in June 1959. She apparently had a son while they were married and he was named Arther Long. This is all the info that I have. I am not looking to meet her or him but to just get some info for my family tree. I have been doing genealogy for many years and just went to fill in the gaps in my dad life before he married my mom in 1961.

Ann Crabtree

Virginia Ann Crabtree, 70, of Satsuma, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka.

She was a former president of the Downtown Merchants Association of Palatka, member of the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and founder, chair and committee head of the Blue Crab Festival, where she was "Mudder Crab." Ann was born in Melbourne, Fla., to A.C. and Alice H. Woodrow. She attended Melbourne High School and was a member of the Melbourne Marching Band. Her early childhood was spent on Jacksonville Beach and she continued her love of the beach throughout her life, enjoying area beaches. She was known by her children for her specialty, "Periwinkle Soup." She moved to Palatka in 1961 and in 1966 married the love of her life, Tom Crabtree. With her four children and his three children, they became what their children like to call the "original" Brady Bunch. A certified ceramic instructor, she owned and operated a ceramic shop. In 1976, she co-founded and operated Tom Crabtree Wholesale Company Inc., with her husband until 2001 when she semi-retired and opened, first, a restaurant, and then an antique business, Fifth Street Emporium.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states plus North, Central and South America and parts of Europe. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren/great-grandson as Mudder aka Mudd. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved living life to the fullest. She always wanted to make the best of every situation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Porter Wilkinson, who was killed on the USS Wasp in World War II; her beloved sister, Mrs. Marjorie Miller of Jacksonville Beach; and two brothers, Sidney Wilkinson of Bradenton and Albert Woodrow of Rockledge.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Crabtree: children, Teju (Mike) Adkisson of Interlachen, Toni (Gary) Sullivan of Avon Park, Steve (Donna) Laibl of Jacksonville, Marcia (Ben) Hall of Alpharetta, Ga., and Chip (Liz) Laibl, Danny (Tammy) Crabtree and Cindy (Ricky) Stallings, all of Palatka; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; aunt, Mary Freeman; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins as well as beloved dog and constant companion, Cosmo.

It was Ann's wishes to be cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Oliver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Northeast Florida, 112 Norma St., Hollister, FL 32147 or the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177

Could you please send me the information you have on the Woodrows as I have been looking for 20 years. I'm 64 and have no ides of who they are. My grand father is Charles P.S, his tein brother was Thomas Jeffferson. Charles died in 1918 of that influenza. Anna died 6 months later. I am seeking information regarding Elizabeth Woodrow, b. 5 Sep 1839 in Pittsburg, PA, d. 3 Aug 1899, buried in Marshall Co., IA. Census records indicate her father was born in Virginia.

She married John Ross Elliott, b. 27 Dec 1837 Miami Co., OH and died 4 Aug 1893 , buried in Liscomb Cemetery, Marshall Co. IA.

Children listed on 1880 Census:

Thanks for your reply. Mary George Rennie is my aunt. Would you have any information on their son, John Brunton Woodrow, born about 1907 married Agnes Drummond and he died in 1932 Dumbarton?
I have the 1841 and 1851 census for James Brunton and Agnes Black and Andrew Woodrow and Janet Swan if you would like it.
This has not been proven but it looks like Andrew Woodrow's parents are Andrew Woodrow and Margaret Miller.
This has not been proven also, Janet Swan's parents are James Swan and Janet Pirry.

I DON'T THINK THAT THEY ARE THE SAME JOSEPH WOODROW. BUT IT IS IN THE RIGHT AREA.
JOSEPH IS MY GRANDFATHER. MY GRANDPARENTS HAD 4 CHILDREN : SHIRLEY DIED AS AN INFANT, DONALD, THOMAS, AND JAMES. BUT POSSIBLY STILL RELATED SOME HOW.

My great aunt was Pheobe Woodrow Schell. She was the child of Estelle Chaplin Woodrow Schell and James Peter Woodrow. (All of Lapeer County Michigan, around Buck's corner). She had three brother's Milton Woodrow (my grandfather), Dewey Woodrow and a half brother named Fred Woodrow Traver. One of my great aunt's lived in Arizona and I think her son's just disposed of all of her possesions rather than finding homes for them. If you got the picture of "Phebe", could you send me a jpeg?

Hi, i am trying to find Victor (Chubby) Woodrow, born somewhere around 1920-5 in England, possibly somewhere in the greater london area but not certain. His mother was Ivy Woodrow, daughter of Susan Ann Baughan and Friedrich Wunderow. He spent some time in Dr. Barnados homes i think, and some time living with my grandmother, Milly Page. He also spent time at sea from a young age. The Woodrow family were originally Wunderow and from Germany but changed their name to Woodrow because of the first world war, when Germans living in the UK had a pretty hard time. I understand that Chubby Woodrow, in turn may well have changed his surname since leaving home at an early age(around 16yrs), so have little hope of finding him, but would dearly love to hear from him if he is still alive or any of his family if they know the truth.

Isaac Woodrow, Highland Co, Ohio

Before 1820, Isaac WOODROW and his wife Mary (Polly) HANSBROUGH migrated from Culpeper Co VA to Highland Co OH, where presumably they died. Isaac is shown in the 1820 census for Highland County. He probably died between 1860-1870 as the 1860 census gives his age as 91. His wife Polly is listed as 70. She is shown as living alone in 1870 and in 1880, where her age is given as 95. I'm assuming she died during the 1880s.

My question—did Isaac and Mary (Polly) have children, and if so, who. Other WOODROWs are listed through the years, but I don't know if they are children of Isaac and Polly

Assuming you are Claire as you mention Grandmother Milly Page. Hope all is well with you.

I drew a blank finding anything out about any Wunderows. As you know my Grandmother was Ann Wunderow/Woodrow. It sounds like you know lots more about them, including next level up. anything you can tell me would be great as I can't even find birth details for Ann.

Uncle T told me about Victor/Chubby. Would be very keen on anything you find out.

Hey, I don't know if this will help any, but I'm related to an Elmer Sr. and Mary Woodrow of Philadelphia, PA. (Both deceased of course). They had, to my knowledge, five children - Elmer, Mary Elizabeth, Margaret, Agnes, and one other. I'm Mary Elizabeth's granddaugther, but I don't know anything about Elmer, Margaret, and Agnes. I think the other sibling died young. Elmer Jr. died Sept 1974.

I am wondering if anyone sees any connection in their Woodrow family notes to the following Woodrow family that lived in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland.

Alexander Woodrow (born about 1844, Dailly, Ayr) was the son of Robert Woodrow (born about 1808, Paisley, Renfrewshire - died 02 Mar 1880, Dalrymple, Ayr) and Jane Findlay (born about 1822, Patna, Ayrshire - died 10 Apr 1887, Ayr).

Alexander Woodrow married a certain Mary Blackley (born about 1848, Dalrymple, Ayr) daughter of Andrew Blackley and Mary Brown on 27 Jul 1877 in Dalrymple, Ayr.

The following information is taken from the 1891 Census Record - Parish of Ayr for the family of Alexander Woodrow and Mary Brown who were living at Belmont Crossing.

1. Alexander Woodrow - head, 46 years old, a railway gateman, born in Dailly, Ayrshire Parish
2. Mary Woodrow - wife, 41 years old, born in Dalrymple, Ayrshire Parish
3. Robert Woodrow - son, 12 years old, employed in garden, born in Dalrymple, Ayrshire Parish
4. Mary Woodrow - daughter, 11 years old, scholar, born in Dalrymple, Ayrshire Parish
5. John Woodrow - son, 8 years old, scholar, born in Dalrymple, Ayrshire Parish
6. Andrew Woodrow - son, 5 years old, born in Dalrymple, Ayrshire Parish
7. Jane Whittet - niece, 1 year old, born in Dumfrieshire, Dumfries

I am wondering if anyone sees any connection in their Woodrow family notes to the following Woodrow families that lived in Paisley, Renfrewshire and Dalrymple, Ayrshire.

The children of Peter Woodrow and Margareta Grant included:

1. William Woodrow (born about 1799, Paisley, Renfrewshire)

2. John Woodrow (born about 1802, Paisley, Renfrewshire)

3. Robert Woodrow (born about 1808, Paisley, Renfrewshire - died 02 Mar 1880, Dalrymple, Ayr)

Peter Woodrow and Margareta Grant most likely had other children that I am currently unaware of at the moment. The following is information in regard to their one son Robert Woodrow (1808 - 02 Mar 1880).

Robert Woodrow married a certain Jane Findlay (born about 1822, Patna, Ayrshire - died 10 Apr 1887, Ayr) daughter of John Findlay and Agnes Mcreadie on 26 Aug 1842 in Dailly, Ayrshire.

The children of Robert Woodrow and Jane Findlay included:

1. Alexander Woodrow (born about 1844, Dailly, Ayr)

2. Agnes Woodrow (born about 1848, Dalrymple, Ayr)

3. Janet Woodrow (born about 1850, Dalrymple, Ayr)

4. John Woodrow (born about 1851, Dalrymple, Ayr)

5. Peter Woodrow (born 11 Jun 1853, Dalrymple, Ayr)

6. Jane Woodrow (born about 1860, Dalrymple, Ayr)

I am looking for anyone that has a Matthew Woodrow or a Matthew Jr. Woodrow aprox. date of death's are 1943 and 1926, one I believe is from Scotland and the other I am not sure if he is from Montana or Scotland. We are having little luck in finding out about my wife's grandfathers family. If anyone might have any information please let me know.

John Brunton Woodrow is related to my family through my family. My gr gr grandfather was his gr father.Andrew Woodrow his gr father was married to Janet Swan and they had five children. John was the youngest and he married Jane Brunton. He is buried at the cemetry at Borthwick midlothian

I am looking for the daughter of EARL P. LUDDEN and GLADYS MAE (COOPER) LUDDEN. She would be the niece of my grandmother, MYRTLE ELIZA (COOPER - LANCTO-MALLETTE). (I have no other info on Earl.).however...for Gladys was Myrtle's older sister. Gladys was born in Florence, MA in 1899. (Myrtle was born 1911 in Springfield, MA)..

Gladys died in 1972 in Springfield, MA. In her obit, it mentions my grandmother and her two other sisters, BEATRICE WELLSPEAK and ESTHER WOODROW, and Gladys's daughter. The name that was mentioned was Mrs. RICHARD F. GROVE of Huntington, NY. However, no mention of her first name..
