My great grandfather, Carl Woodruff (b. around 1870 ?)holds the key to our Native American heritage. One of my mother's Aunt's wrote her a letter that refers to Carl's Indian lineage. Unfortunately she didn't include any details.

Carl was married to Charlotte Elizabeth "Lottie" Posnett.
They lived in Pennsylvania.

Their children: Edith Mae (my Nana), Stanley, Roy and Claire.

My mother thinks she was told that our earlier Woodruffs lived in Delaware and/or New Jersey.

We pass down a family story that takes place during the civil war. Two Woodruff brothers split their allegiances, one fighting for the south and one for the north.
One brother became a prisoner of war. The other brother happened to be a jailer at the prison where he was held.
Late one night the brother jailer opened his brother's cell and they spoke as brothers. The jailer let his brother run free with the stipulation that the prisoner never contact or see him ever again.

If you are related to me or have any information on my clan, please contact me.
