I'm looking for descendants of the family of Stephen Woods b 1830 Barleythorpe, Rutland and Rebekah Faulks b 1829 Walthamm LEIC. So far I have found the children Phoebe, Reba, Rosetta, Robert and Samuel who appear to be born in Somerby. I don't know if there were any children born after 1858.

Woods family born in Leicestershire late 1800s

My GG grandfather, Frederick Topley was a widower when he married a widow Rebekah Woods (ms Faulks and her was father James Faulks) Oct. 11, 1885 in St. Pauls Church Leicester. In the 1901 England Census 2 of her grandchildren were living with them. Phoebe Cullen b abt 1884 in Whissendine Leicestershire and William Woods b abt 1884 in Long Clawson Leicestershire. Further, when Frederick died Feb. 13, 1917 in Braunstone the signature, description and residence information on the death certificate was provided by E. Woods, 43 Braunstone Gate Leicester. Is there anyone reading this who is related to Rebekah, Phoebe, William, or E. Woods? I'm hoping that someone related may have a picture of my GG grandfather Frederick 1828 - 1917. By the way there is a huge surname error in the transcription of the 1885 marriage of Frederick and Rebekah.

I'm searching for my natural father, listed on my birth certificate. He was married to my mom Gwendolyn Colby Woods in 1961 when I was born, in Seattle. He should be in his late 70's. He worked for Boeing as a electrical engineer and transferred away to Florida?? leaving my mom and I. He may live in Oregon, I know he was born in Texas as its stated on my birth certificate.

I don't want anything from him. I just want to know of his health and if he is living a good life. Also to let him know he has grand children of his blood.

Florence Elizabeth Doss Woods was from Arkansas, and according to her son and our uncle, Alvie (Alvia G. Woods), she was born in Hamburg, Arkansas. I believe Granny's birthday was December 29th. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact year of her birth. My mother was the youngest of her 7 children with James William Woods.

James "Jim" William Woods was married before, and had 4 children from his first marriage. I believe his first wife's name was Viola Notham/Northam. Evelyn Woods Hollis is the granddaughter of Jim and Viola, and she lives in, I believe, Beaverton, Alabama, and is married Buck Hollis. You can probably meet her at the Woods family reunion in Beaverton each summer.

I know James William's father was named Hiram Calvin Woods, and I believe his wife was Nancy Jane Roberts.

LAST WILL & TESTAMENT
SUSANNAH WOODS dec’d
State of South Carolina Abbeville District.
In the name of God Amen.
I Susannah Woods of the District & State aforesaid being of sound Mind and Memory but weak in body, and being sensible that it is appointed for man once to die and after that the Judgement do constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit.
1st. I give and bequeath my soul to God who gave it relying on his devine mercy for a happy resurrection of the same.
2nd. It is my will and desire, that my body after death be decently buried all necessary expenses incurred for the same be defrayed.
3rd. I desire that all my Just and Lawful debts be discharged by my Executors herein after named whenever a sufficient fund is on hands.
4th. I Will and bequeath unto my daughter Martha Bell Drinkwater- One Negro Girl named Matilda. And one Negro Man named Peter.
5th. I WILL and bequeath all the rest of my property both real & personal to be equally divided among my children herein named Viz. James Woods, Susannah C. M. Smith, William L. Woods, Michael Woods, Andrew C. Woods & Robert W. Woods and also my daughter Martha B. Drinkwater an equal share of the land with the above named legatees.
6th. I Will and bequeath to my son John Woods one Negro Girl named Jensey and two hundred dollars.
7th. I Will and bequeath unto my daughter Isabella G. Harden three hundred dollars and Authorize my Executors to pay Over the said amounts to each of them whenever in funds. I also Will that my Negro Woman Nancy be allowed to have her freedom & live with which of the Legatees she may Wish.
8th. I will and bequeath to my son Robert W. Woods one good Bedstead & furniture.
9th. I will that the present crop now growing when gathered be equally divided between Robert W. Woods, John Woods and the other third to be applied for the support of the family while here.
10th. And lastly I constitute and appoint my friends Jonathan Johnson & William Covington Executors to this my last will & Testament confiding in their integrity for the faithful Execution of the same hereby revoking all other wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 6th day of June A.D. One thousand eight hundred twenty Nine.

I have a John Woods born 1791 along the TN, KY, VA borders with no firm statement of parents. He has one son named Andrew Woods (approx. 1820)and another named Elijah (born 1840). This is probably concincidence any possible connections?

This man was my great-grandfather. In the 1980's a Beulah Woods gathered information and compiled a short family genealogy with photos about the family of John Woods and Catherine Sarah Long of Madoc Twp.. The photo copiers of the era did not reproduce photos well, and I would like to better copies of some of them.

The booklet says that a Julie Rutishauser was the publisher.

If anyone out there can help me, I would appreciate it. I have a few old photos of my line of the family which I would be happy to exchange.

Still trying to sort this out. Patrick Laughlin was my grandfather. I thought his first marriage was to Maggie Woods. Just found the 1900 Census listing Pat Loohlan in South Valley, born July 1861 in NY. Wife Margret Laughlin, born Sept 1860 in NY. Son Albert Laughlin, born March 1894 in NY. Also in household was father-in-law, John Grilben (Gribben), born May 1824 in Ireland.

I guess this makes Maggie Woods really Maggie Gribben!!!

There is evidence of Elijah Woods in Andrew Woods son, Archibald Woods papers also.

There is a WOODS who was on board and became missing during a 1915 shipwreck of the Arabic as it was bound for New York. The ship was torpedoed by the Germans.
