In about 1860, a man called John Wooleever[sic] was hired to operate a ferry boat across the Missisippi River from Sabula, Iowa to Savanna, Illinois. I believe he was the son of Robert and Catherine Welliver, all listed in Perry Twp., Jackson Co., IA in 1850. He could have been living in Carroll Co., Illinois, just as well. I know his family later moved away from Iowa. Does anyone know what became of John?
