In 1860 Cumberland Co, IL, Hurricane Precint there is an Andrew J Woolever age 11 living with Andrew & Emily Trumbo(Trimbaugh). I cannot help you with the Woolever name but am trying to determine the relationship with Andrew Woolever and the Trumbos. I am a descendant of Andrew Trumbo and have very little information about the Trumbo family. They were in Cumberland Co., IL in 1860 and 1870 census. Emily's maiden name was Gates, and in 1880 census she is living with son-in-law Henry McMillen. Andrew and Emily Trimbaugh's daughter, Etta Catherine m. Henry Baumgartner another Cumberland County family. Henry moved to Pratt County Kansas. Any help would be appreciated

Geraldine Hobson-Woolever (daughter Terrie Woolever taken away from family as child in Los Angeles)

Hi folks, new here to this site. Trying to find mother of
50 year old Terrie Woolever born June 22, 1958(now in San Diego) Terrie was born in Los Angeles county to a father LeRoy Woolever and mother Geraldine (nee Hobson) Woolever. Something happened in the family and three children were taken away from the family. Terrie wants to see her mother for her 50th birthday present. She is mentally challenged but understands the ramifications and respects the visitation to be only informative, not a continual reunion. I thought I'd help her as a 50th birthday gift. She has a heart of gold and wants to see her mother one more time before she dies. If anyone has any information, please feel free to call or email me at jloy65@hotmail.com or (619)838-8343
My name is Jeff and I look after Terrie from time to time.
I believe that people make mistakes and change after time and that her mother might want to see her as well but may not have the where-with-all to find her. I'll pray that a response might make someone's wish come true.
Thank you folks! I'm pretty inept at searching this site and seemed to have hit many walls trying!

What became of John Wooleever, ferryman of Jackson Co., Iowa?

In about 1860, a man called John Wooleever[sic] was hired to operate a ferry boat across the Missisippi River from Sabula, Iowa to Savanna, Illinois. I believe he was the son of Robert and Catherine Welliver, all listed in Perry Twp., Jackson Co., IA in 1850. He could have been living in Carroll Co., Illinois, just as well. I know his family later moved away from Iowa. Does anyone know what became of John?

Could you please shed some more light on the choctaw connection. Thanks, brendabentley@wwdb.org

A number of us are enrolled in the Northern Cherokee tribe, which isn't actually recognized as a tribe as far as the current government is concerned. This is not through any enrollment in the Dawes Rolls or any other official Indian records, but based on good faith that our family stories are true and that they lived in certain areas at certain times. Unfortunately it doesn't officially answer the Indian question, although it helps with the emotional aspect of feeling validated and a part of a tribe. It was my understanding that I, at least, was enrolled because of Dekalb's wife, Sarah Jane Bell, and not because of Fannie. Sarah's family is traced back to the Black Warrior Village in North Carolina in the 18th century, through Theophilus Norwood. As far as I know, no one has anything official that proves Fannie an Indian, although I believe she was a Cherokee. The book I've seen mentioned from 1998 about George and his Descendants, I would love to see a copy of -- I'm sure it would give some places to start looking, even if they are unofficial.

In looking at the Choctaw enrollment you mention for Fannie Francis, it seems like this could not possibly be our Fannie, since Dawes was 1898-1914, and the card as I read it lists Fannie and William Francis as the parents of William Francis, married to Myrtle, whose enrollment card this actually is. This indicates to me that this Fannie was married into the name Francis, and it is not her maiden name, therefore not our Fannie.

If any of our Woolevers have a Dawes number, it would be George and Fannie's children or grandchildren. As the surname Woolever is not in the Index to the Final Rolls, this is very unlikely. If anyone has any official records/documents with the family listed as Indian or found in any Indian censuses, please point us in the right direction.

I have been searching for Andrew Jackson Woolever, supposed son of David Woolever of Coles County, Illinois.
My husband is the grandson of Henry Lewis Woolever son of Andrew Jackson Woolever. There appears to be a couple of Andrew Jacksons, but the one I am looking for is the one that died in Burlington, Iowa after his son Henry Lewis drowned in the Mississippi River. Andrew lived with his son, Henry in Burlington for a number of years. I understand there was a second wife somewhere in MO. that Andrew took Henry as a baby and ran back to his family in Illinois to raise. Any help would be greatly appreciated on the Woolever family in Coles and Cumberland County, Illinois.

What nationality is it?

This surname was derived from Germans who first immigrated in 1710 via England.
If you research on the Palatinates you can find their story.
Basically they fled Germany to England and then were sent to US to work as endentured servants.
They were placed in New York to collect naval stores and act as a buffer between the british and Indians.
From there they migrated through Mohawk Valley and into NJ and PA and then all points west.
Seperate groups also migrated in mid-late 1800's into North Carolina. To tie these together you need to go back into Germany.

The surname as spelled by original 1710 immigrants was WOLLEBER/WOLLEBEN/WOHLLEBEN.

Contact me for further information and locations of interest.
Regards,
George

I am attempting to help my Aunt Anna Jane Embrich in researching her RASOR-WOOLEVER family history. Her great-grand mother was Dovie Lovina WOOLEVER, WOOLIVER, WOLIVER, born 14 Feb 1831 in Rowan County, NC. Dovie Lovina was the daughter of Jacob WOLIVER and Barbay HOVER and the grand daughter of Joseph WOLLEVER and Nancy POOLE.

There is a family rumor that my Aunt's grandmother (Mary Jane RASOR) daughter of Dovey WOOLEVER might have some Indian in either her RASOR or WOOLIVER line, but we don't know which line?

Any help with information, documents of any kinds or even photos of any of her WOOLEVER ancestors would be greatly appreciated.

For the most part I have that information. I am looking for on Clyde's parents. I know that his parents names are Elisha M. Woolever and Sabina Jane Furst. I believe that he only had one sister named Pearl. I am also looking for information on Jennie Lou Martin. I know that her parents names are Abram E. Martin and Martha J. Long. She has 3 sisters named Carrie, Minnie, and Mattie. And she has 2 brothers named Jim (or James) and William. I also know that Minnie, Mattie and William never married.

If you have any more information on them that would be great. Since I have been told that most of the family tree information that we did have was distroyed in a house fire in the fifties and have come to a dead end.

I would love to find out exactly where my family came from and to pass that information on to my children.

Tina

Dekalb and George Woolever

I am a descendant of George and Fannie Woolever through Dekalb and Sara Jane. My great grandparents were Bud "RA" and Lee Omie Thompson Woolever, and my grandmother was Geneva Woolever Neal. My sisters and I have been working hard to research this line since my grandmother passed away. It meant a lot to her and so it does to us. I see a few names on the board that she mentioned when I was growing up - Bobbie Harris and Bernice Ensminger. Could either of you please contact me with what info you have gathered, as well as any others in the Woolever clan who can help. We know virtually nothing past Dekalb and Sara Jane. Any help is deeply appreciated! gobegirl@hotmail.com
