Hi Dave - I am SO HAPPY to hear from you - you are the first person I have connected with on the Purdie line and I am so happy to meet a cousin! Mary Ann Annette is my 2nd great grandmother (I presume that would be 'great-grand', my grandmother's paternal grandmother). I knew her parents names but nothing of her siblings or history. I have photos of her, at least 2, which I'll email to you (in midst of changing computers right now so can't access them). I would like any information you can give me about the siblings and family history and I'll share everything I know.

I know Mary Ann and Charles Woollett were married April 4, 1842 in St. John's Church, Islington, Middlesex. I show that Mary Ann's parents as married at St. Mary's Islington in 1817, but your date of 1820 sounds interesting.

Please send me any info you can on the families. I am interested in the area they came from and whatever you can share. Do you live in the Pentonville/Islington area? I know it is part of greater London now. I believe 2 of Mary Ann's sisters were witnesses at her marriage, but am not sure, Emily and Maria, I think.

Do you know anything about the Woollett family at that time? Mary Ann and Charles came to the US between 1842 and 1849 but I don't have an emigration date, might you know? They settled in Chicago and their first son was my great-grandfather, Robert Newman Woollett, b. 1850. They had 6 more children, then my great-grandfather Charles volunteered for the Union in the American Civil War and left his wife home with 7 children for 2 full years! I don't know if Newman is a "Purdie" family name.

Looking forward to hearing from you!!

My website for genealogy is:
http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/a/s/Margaret-F-...

You'll find the two photos of Mary Ann on that site.

Marge (Margaret) Wasserman, Pleasant Hill, CA, please write me at mfs37@aol.com

I have a Thomas PURDIE (b. 11.12.1794) who married Hannah HORTON (b.c. 1802) who married on 11.04.1820 at St James, Clerkenwell, London and Mary Ann Annette was their daughter (and sister to my great-grand father Walter Charles Fry Purdie). I have details (some scant) of 9 other siblings to Walter Charles. Mary Ann Annette was b. 3.11.1821 and baptised at St James, Pentonville on 17.04.1822. I am interested in any further information - perhaps we can swap notes? I am descended from Walter Charles Fry Purdie as my mother was a Purdie. My name is David Nelson Picton (b. 7.11.1934). Look forward to hearing from you in due course if you are interested.

Our George P. Woollett was George Purdie Woollett, he was born in Chicago on July 19, 1858. I don't know if he ever lived in Kentucky. He eventually lived in Minn and CA . He built a house in Pasadena, CA about 1895, and died there in 1935. Sorry if it isn't your George. Marge

Other sons were George Purdie Woollett and Al(fred?) E. Woollett. Also have heard that Charles may be John, but all evidence going toward Charles at the moment. But I had been given information previously that he was the son of Johan Daniel Kerbach b.1765.

Hi

I am trying to trace the ancestors of my GG Grandfather, Samuel Peckett Woollett, whose death certificate states he was born; Woolstock (Wright County, Iowa ?), America, about 1830.
He then went on to Melbourne, Australia, where he met his wife Jane Collis. They then travelled on to Dunedin, New Zealand where my great grandmother was born.
Any confirmation of his birth and/or identity of his parents would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Matt Lambeth

Marguerite Woollett 1854-1919

Seeking others who are also searching the Woollett surname in the UK. I believe that Marguerite Woollett was born 05 Aug 1854 in Dalton, Northumberland(?). Came to the USA abt 1882 with her husband Joseph Thompson, and children: William, Elizabeth Jane, Robert, Marguerite Ann, and possibly George. Elizabeth Jane Thompson was born in Blyth, apparently in Northumberland as well. Marguerite Woollett also had a sister Sarah who was married to a Robert Ferguson, and they lived in or near Ponteland and or Bedlington Station at one time.
