Vera Worby; David Worby

Hello. I am researching my wife's granny, Frederica Winifred Rich, who married Robert David WORBY (born circa 1886) at Kensington Parish Church in 1916. Robert's address is given as 2 Shrewsbury Road, Willesden. They had a daughter called Vera, whom I think was born in 1917. After that, the trail goes dead.
My wife's connection is that her father was an illegimate son of Frederica, born two years before she married Robert David Worby.
Anyone got any links, ideas, about this branch of the illustrious Worby clan please?

There seems to be conection everywhere with us worby's. I am the Great granddaughter of James and Susan (Thorpe) Worby. My grandfather was Henry Worby who married one of the Godfrey sisters, Harriet. I know that my grandfathers' brother , Charles, emigrated to Canada in 1904. Having read everyones notes i think we all have a connection somewhere.
I have been given a "book" with many facts about the worby's and their history. My tree goes back to 1809 and would love to go back further but I seem to have got stuck. If any of my info means anything to any one let me know

If anyone's been using Ancestry to hunt for East End Worbys on the 1901 census and come unstuck - try typing in the spelling as "Warley" - by some stroke of luck I've just found the missing link I've been hunting for for YEARS - transcription error due to dodgy handwriting on original document.
The same family are spelt "Warby" on the national archives 1901 census website, and "Worby" on all other census.

Worby is the correct spelling in this case.

Henry David WORBY and Ethel Louisa WORBY

I am trying to trace the family of Ethel Louisa WORBY. I believe she was born in Islington London in 1889. Her father was Henry David WORBY (mother unknown as yet), and I think he may have come from York. The IGI has a Henry David WORBY being married in York in 1881. As this is the only Henry David to appear in the IGI, I am presuming that this is my Henry David.

Does anyone know of this family or is able to provide me with additional information? It would be nice to put this piece of the puzzle where it rightly belongs.

Thank you

Minnie Worby m. David Clemens 1913 WA

The Creston News, Oct. 13, 1905, Lincoln County, Washington.

Yesterday evening in Spokane, occurred the marriage of Miss Minnie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Worby of this city, and Rev. David Clemens, a young minister of the Saints' denomination. They will claim Spokane as their home though most of their time will probably be spent traveling over the field of their religious labors.

The bride has been actively and earnestly engaged in church work for the past two years.

I'm not related.

Looking for details on Edwin Worby, father of Albert Cornelius Worby....... they don't appear on the 1901 census - the earliest mention I can find of them is on Albert's marriage certificate to Emily Maria Fanning in 1909 (St Olave, East London). Both Edwin and AC were cabinet makers by 1909, home address being in Abbey Street (Mile End / Plaistow area I think?) Any leads warmly received!!

Frances Worby - FAO Pete.

Hi Pete,

Just as a suggestion - it would be really easy to find out who Frances was married to, but it may cost you a little bit of money. In one of the messages below I told you the names / ages of her children in 1901 - from these you can pick one and work out when they were born. Then go to a bmd site such as www.1837online.com and find the index entry for their birth certificate (costs about 10p per page viewed). Once you have the index reference, email the Family Records Centre and order a copy of the birth certificate - father should be named on it - certificates cost about £12 I think. It's costly but if you're really stuck it's one way of getting over the hurdle (tip: choose one of the middle children as she may not have been married when she had the oldest one - so father wouldn't be on cert).

Emma :)
