I am the son of Anne Marjorie Wrigg. My Father is Jose Viles.

I remember very clear Uncle Charles, Aunt Audrey, Joan and I spent a lot of time with my Aunt Win who was the oldest. Uncle Fred (Fearn) always has this jet black hair which was set with ....whats it called "Brilcream" I think and he was proud of washing it with soap. He smoked those aweful little cigarettes.

My Aunt Audrey was beautiful and I was very close to her. She lived in Zambia for awhile then came back. Her children are Tracey and James.

does all this sound right?

Pere

My Brother and I are some of the few who survived. Some have suggested it was the lancashire diet etc etc.

Thay had two of us me Pere (Peter) and my brother Anthony Ramon. The surname is Viles and I changed it to Villez later though now I have adopted my mothers surname Wrigg.

The sisters and Brothers you list are right.

I have a Duagther whose name is Alba Chreode Villez. My Brother Anthony has no children as of yet and lives in Grand Canary. I would love to find more info myself on my family on the part of my mum.

Kind regards Pere
Re: Elizabeth Southern nee Wrigg

I think have a connection with this couple although I am not one of their descendants. My 2xgreat grandmother was the Sarah Ann Wrigg who is listed on the BMD section of this website as being born in Salford in 1847 and married to Charles Edward Swindell in Birmingham in 1873. Sarah's parents were Charles Thomas Wrigg (born ca 1810 in Manchester area) and Jane Davenport. There is an Elizabeth Wrigg living with the family on the 1841 census aged 20 (ages were round down in this census so she could have been born in 1818). Although relationships are not specified I am guessing she was my Charles's sister as she was too old to have been Charles and Jane's daughter. Do you know if this was indeed your Elizabeth and what the connection is? I would be interested to hear of any descendants you discover and would be happy to tell you more about my Wriggs.

ROBERT WRIGG, [also Rigg and Wragg], worked in the cotton mills in Ashton under Lyne. Married to Millison PEARSON about 1832. Died in Buckley St, Ashton Town in 1866. He was 54 when he died so he must have been born around 1812.
He had 7 children that I know of: sons, John 1832, William 1835, James 1838, Thomas Pearson 1840, Samuel 1850: daughters Hannah 1843, Elizabeth 1847. I'm descended from James.
Does anyone have any information about Robert's birth and/or who his parents might have been? Whether he had siblings?

In about 1810, a William ?rigg was living in Heyrod, Ashton under Lyne. I'm assuming his name was really WRIGG. He worked in manufacturing which probably meant in the cotton trade, given that later generations of the family worked in cotton. All I know was he lived with a female, whether this was his wife or his sister, I don't know. Does anyone know where to I'd need to look to find out further information about him or his family?

Thank you for replying to my email. I am actually researching the Hallgarth or Brookfield family. My great-grandmother was Sarah Millicent Wrigg and was Annie Elizabeth Wriggs cousin. Any information I can find, even nephews, nieces, and cousins will be added to my family tree. I know that Annie Elizabeth and Joseph William had at least three children. Wilfred, Gilbert and Mona. They were born in 1889, 1892 and 1900 respectively. Sorry I can't tell you anymore.

I can confirm that Annie Elizabeth Wrigg was married to Jospeh William Ratcliffe, he was my grandmothers brother. If you have any information that might help me with my family history, I would be very grateful. Are you tracing Wrigg family of Ratcliffe.

Cheers

Marilyn

I am researching the Wrigg (Wregg) family. Benjamin Wrigg (Wregg) was born in 1842 in Ireland. He was an engineer. He married in 1872 in Aigburth, Lancashire, Margaret Thexton, who was from Lancashire, born 1846. They lived in Birkenhead, and had the following children:
Mary Elizabeth b 1879/80
Edward (Ernest) b 1876
Henry b 1882
Benjamin b 1886
Frank b 1878

If anybody has any information about this family I should be grateful.

Regards

Mary

Do you know anything more about him? When and where he was born and also parents names? And where do you fit in the family picture?
I have a John Wrigg b. 1910 d. 1985 that had 5 chn - Patricia, Russell, Charles, Carlin and Mike. Does this family mean anything to you? I understand that they are all from Montana.
Cheers
Janice

If we can find a connection between the Wriggs you mention and the Wakefield ones then two branches of Wrigg are related that we couldn't find evidence for. Lots of names in common but also fairly common names. Probably need more detail of your family, unfortunately not in a position to pursue this right now but if it can go on back burner then we might be able to get a couple of heads working on it to add to yours. Sorry can't offer more at moment.
