Thank you for your reply to my post. I had a bounce on a direct email I sent, so I have replied here as well.
A few years ago I started researching my grand father, and through Roostchat.com , a very helpful lady found that he was born in Bemondsey which led my to your posts. Below is a link to the Roostchat.com posts for your interest.http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=425551.0
My father died at age 93 several years ago, and the oral history is a bit confusing. I started out trying to search my grandfathers Royal navy records, but could find no matching records. My father's birth certificate shows Alfred was born in NorthHampton, however as explained in the above link, I believe Alfred was born in London, and was the son of Charles Reeves Wright. My late father was in the merchant navy in the 1920s and 1930 visited family in England. He recalled that his grandfather was a tanner. This is consistent with Charles being a currier. I also recall him saying one or more of Alfred's brothers owning a tannery, moving to South Africa???
I have no formal family tree of the Wrights in Australia, however can put together what I have.
