The first definate connection I can make is the birth of John Wright in 1811 in Southport, Lancashire. He married Mary (Halsall)in Ormskirk in 1834 and their children were Ann (1836), Jane (1837), Mary (1838), Sarah (1839), John (1841), Adam (1834), & Walter (1844). Son John married Mary (Sephton) in 1863 and Frances Mary (1864), James Halsall (1865), Sarah (1869), and John (1870)were their children. Son Walter and wife Jane had 2 sons Walter P (1878) and Harold H (1879). It would appear that the family were Boot & Shoe Makers, with John Sr. being an employer in 1851. I understand from family
information that someone in the family emigrated to the US and was involved with shoe making in NY State. (This could have been Walter and family since nothing after the 1881 census can be found). A condition known as Talaipes Equinovarus (Club Foot) does run in the family and is possibly why the family were involved in the boot and shoe industry. I understand that a great-aunt purchased her shoes from the NY company. If anyone has any infomation and/or connection to the Wright family of North Meols I would love to hear from you.
