William's sister, Ada Wrigley Price(2nd wife of Joseph W. Price) is our(step)G-grandmother. That Wrigley family came from Wales in 1874, Ada & some siblings had been born in Wales, later children(including William) were born in Penna.
In 1900 Phila.census it shows William Wriggly(sic),a bridge builder, wife Elizabeth, daughter Ada & father-in-law "------ Fredrick"(born in Germany, 1851),a watchman, lived next door to Ada Wrigley & her husband, Joseph W. Price.
Here's what we've learned(from Ada Wrigley Price's children & our own documented investigations):
Apparently(the poor)Wrigley family left or escaped Wales because of involvement with a building fund scandal. NO coat-of-arms or family crest for this family. NO connection to Wrigley Chewing Gum family.
William did move to Atlantic City,N.J.where he sold "Wrigley Toothpaste"on the boardwalk(& created Wrigley Pharmaceutical Co.) His troubles began when he started selling worthless shares of his Wrigley Phamaceutical Company...in 1929 he was taken to court for his selling of worthless shares, & by the(real) Wrigley Chewing Gum Co.for his capitalizing on their logos & company name. He was found GUILTY(see Atl.City legal archives) It was then he "fled" to Canada.(You can find those share certificates for sale on the internet, and even a box of his toothpaste...look under old scandals & frauds).
QUESTIONS: What happened to this William's wife Elizabeth Fredricks & their daughter Ada?
Something just doesn't quite fit..!
Did William married a 2nd (Margaret)Fredricks wife & produce Alfred (1925?) & Joseph?
Surnames, stories, all fit....Did Alfred have a much older sister named Ada? An AUNT Ada Wrigley Price?...who were his other Wrigley aunts & uncles, who were his grandparents? Let's figure this out. Let me know, please.
