I was researching my own family and found your connection to Adeline O'Brien, who was my grandmother. Lorraine and Leonard Hummrich were my aunt and uncle. I believe Lenny's fathers name was John. I believe there may be some interesting stories about him. Don't know if I can help you or not.

Jeannette,
I just got back from vacation. Your Mom sent some photos of my grandfather that I didnt have. Thank you so very much they were terrific. My grandfather just came back from Sacramento visiting his son Gary and i will take them out to my parents house this weekend. My mother katie is going to take some photos of the family and send them out so we can have a connection. I never knew that Antonia's mother was in the states. I have heard all the stories from my grandfather about Southbend and the Studebaker factory but I just assumed the Lesniak's stayed in Poland.I am burning a CD of a few photos I have and I will send those to you and your mom this weekend. Any more info you have would always be appreciated. If you or your mom would like to contact my grandfather to find out any additional information feel free to do so, im sure he would be happy to fill in some of the missing pieces (509-796-4286). He is a little onery but very sharp and very interested in this connection. As Im sure you are aware the Wrobels are a pretty reserved people and you need to pull the past out of them. Stay in touch
Tom

Tom,
I am so happy you responded. I would love to have any information/photos you might have as I have very few. As your grandfather may be able to tell you my grandparents for the most part raised me. I remeber as a small child going over to great grandma Antonia's house. I have a small figurine she gave me still. My grandfather passed away in June of 2001. He is buried in the same cemetery as Michal and Antonia and I go there twice a year and put flowers on their graves. My address is Jeannette Shrum 6027 Maren Dr., Speedway, IN 46224. Antonia's mother was Frances Lesniak and is buried with them at the same plot. All of the pictures I have are of my grandfather when he was in the Navy, but if you would like copies I can send them with some other information I have. Thanks again for the response and info. I hope to hear from you again. Jeannette

Renard, Nice to hear from you again. Regarding the Chrobak first, contact my uncle Stan Moczulski at 519-681-8310 in London Ont which is 15 min from where I'm at. If I'm not mistaken, he knows of some chrobaks or Moczulski,s in Detroit that he talks to ever-so-often, it's been awhile since he has chatted with me about our the long lost relatives in Michigan. As for the wrobels, I used to be involed with the Wrobels here from again Poland. Of course one of the Wrobel girls had been shotyears ago by her boy friend, her name was christine and her sister Jenny married a friend of mine Henry Grech but now divorced. Of course I haen't talked to henry or jenny for some time now but they are around the london area somewhere if this helps. They all went to the polish church in London called Our Lady Of Czestochowa on Hill st. As for the cemeteries in Manitoba, I had sent you a list months ago and I thought you had them by know.I also have a page of favourties of the ships that came to Canada and from what ports of call and to where they landed in the Us and Canada and the passenger lists. Keep in touch.

Hello, Yes I would be very interested. I haven't many responses that looked as promising as yours. Do you know who Michaels parents were? My research indicates that Michael died at the age of one year old. There was a cousin of Walter also named Michael. Perhaps this is your great grandfather?

Walt

Hi Ryan, just came accross your note on the wrobels. My Grandfather Anthony ( Engish ) came ot america in the time frame of 1870 1880. He married my Grandmother named Marcianna Patyra after she arrived a few years after him. From the old folks, it is believed that they were back yard neighbors in Poland.

We do not know the port of entry or what part of Poland they came from. Records are scarce and even the church records in the Catholic Church.

My grand parents were instrumental in the start of the Polish National Church, as it started in our Town of Dickson City, which was Priceburg Pa at that time, later merging in to Dickson City.

The home that my grandfather built, was a very large home and he was a miner by trade. It was the 4th home built in Priceburg Pa and was built before the turn of the century.

I, was the last and youngest of the family to live and be raised in that home.

If you have any info that might be useful, please e mail me or reply with it and it would be apprecited. I am one of seven grandchildren from Albert and Mary Wrobel and they were the first generation born in America. We have no clue of port of entry right now as we believe that Grampa Anthony's entry date may pre date Ellis Island.

Thank you

Andrew P. Wrobel

Walt,
Here is some more information on my line. Michael Wrobel born Poland 1882c Marries Antonia "Lesniak" Wrobel born 1888c. The reason for leaving Poland as told by my grandfather was that the Russians as well a the Germans were conscripting Poles into the Russian and German armies. So they fled Poland working their way across Europe earning money for their voyage to the US. I believe their immigration date was around 1912. They had a young son that died and is buried in the Ellis Island cemetery. They moved to South bend Indiana , St Joseph co Ward 6. Michael worked at the Studebaker Factory. Antonia was a seamstress. Their children were Edward Wrobel born 1913 Stanley Wrobel born 1916 Irene born 1920 and Walter Wrobel (my grandfather)born 1925. I dont know the name of Michael or Antonia's parents, sorry. Let me know if this sounds familiar.
Regards
Tom

I'm not sure if you are still involved in this as this post is 3 years old. My great grandfather was Michael Wrobel. He was married to an Antonia (Antonija). They had four children Edward (my grandfather), Stanley, Irene, and Walter. They immigrated here and ended up in South Bend, IN. As far as I know they came through Ellis Island as I have found passenger logs to confirm it. I also remember a story being told by my grandmother about a baby being born on or around the island that never made the trip. I was very young at the time so I'm not sure how true it is. If any of this helps let me know.

The only other information that I have is about their son, my great grandfather, that was also born in Krzyzowa and came over with his soon to be wife around 1902. Have checked on all the Polish sites for any little thread on both Marianne Wrobel & Jan Krzyzowski but have found nothing. Thank you all for your input.
