I just began doing a little genealogical research as a favor for my sister-in-law, and I came across your message. Johann and Anna Barbara are in my sister-in-laws line but I have not gotten much information on them yet.

What type of information are you looking for on them? Some of the information I have so far shows Anna Barbara' last name as Knuchel/Knuckel and sometimes Michel.

Looking for info on my Grt Grandparents. Christian Wuthrich Maria Riser/Rieser. As far as I know they had 5 children, Gottfried (my grandfather), Frederick (Fritz) and 3 daughters. The girls stayed in Switzerland. Gottfried was born 12-04-1881. He entered the army on 8-11-1900. In 1907 he married Anna Maria Gisler/Giesler in Monticello, Wisconsin. They both are buried in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Would be interested in hearing from anyone looking into the Wuthrich name. Thanks

I'm searching for Alexander Winters - who entered the Civil War at 16, his name upon entering was Wintrisch, Wintrich, Wintrick, each time it was different and finally someone obviously decided his name would then become Winters. He supposedly was from Franklin County OH, SE of Columbus OH. Pls e-mail me if you can be of help. TX

While stationed in Japan in 1951, I ran across a Mark Wuthrich who was from San Francisco. His father played with the San Francisco Philharmonic Orchestra and would have been about the right age of the Reese Wuthrich you are seeking. Might want to check with the orchestra for info.

More often than not, Philharmonic Orchestra members are employed in some other full-time vocation. I see in the Soc Sec Death Records that he was b. 13Jan1904 and died Feb1985 in Fairfield, Solano County, CA. His SSN was 559-09-5506, in case you don't already have this info. Depending on how interested you are in his info you can write to the SSA, in fact there is a letter already written for you by using the SS-5 Letter category under tools in the SSDI. You can receive a copy of the original application for Soc Sec which contains some info and I believe it costs $27. Good luck! Jim

John Wuthrich from Switzerland after 1901

I am looking for a John Wuthrich who came from Switzerand as a young man, married in the US to Rose (Rosa) Schneider. He died Dec 1953. His father died sometime after him in Switzerland. His family contacted Rose at that time. I do not know his father or mother's name. I only know he came from a small community near where Rose lived in Switzerland. Her father was Jacob Schneider. Spellings of either could have changed and I don't know where he settled. Rose was in Rome, NY before she died.

Any help or good sites for birth/immigration/death in Switzerland would be appreciated. Please feel free to contact me for more information. Thank you!

Does anyone know of a Christian Wuthrich born in or around Zurich Switzerland on January 23, 1840. He married Magdeline (don't know maiden name), had 4 children and then moved to Iowa. Their last name was later changed to "Wintrick". He would be my great-grandfather. They were both buried by Elgin, Iowa. Any information would be appreciated. We would like to find relatives left behind in Switzerland.
