Looking for info on Wycoff's of Montgomery County, KY. Here is what I have:
Julia Louisa Wycoff (b. 22 Oct 1847 Montgomery County, KY
d. 10 Nov 1938 Clark County, KY) daughter of John Wycoff (b. 1798) Virginia and Louisa Shouse (b. 1812 d. 1896).
John Wycoff first appears in Montgomery County KY in 1840 census. Also in 1850 & 1860 Montgomery County KY census.
In 1830 Bourbon County KY census there is a John Wyckoff aged 30-39, apparently with wife aged 30-39 and 4 children. His age fits with 1798 birth.
In 1820 Bourbon County KY census there is a John Wycoff aged 16-25, apparently with wife aged 16-25. No children.
His age fits with 1798 birth.
KY Marriages 1802-1850 from Ancestry.com: John Wickoff m. Katherine Cole 04 May 1819, Bourbon County KY.
In 1810 Bourbon County KY census there are 2 Johns. One spelled Wicoff and the other spelled Wykoff. Both are aged 45+ and too old to be John of Montgomery.
In Lander Cemetery, 1 mile from North Middletown, Bourbon County, KY, are buried John Wyckoff d. 01 Nov 1818 and Ursula Herriott Wyckoff d. Sep 1818.
Bourbon County, KY Will Book F p. 205: 04-10-1818 Will of John Wycoff My beloved wife Ursula Wyckoff during her lifetime or widowhood. After her death divided between my three youngest sons John, Garret, and Jacob Wyckoff. Executors sons Samuel and John Wyckoff.
Bourbon County, KY Deed Book Q p. 340, 09-14-1822: Garrett Wyckoff, John Wycoff and Polly his wife, of Sangamon County, IL sell inherited land to James M. Cogswell.
Is John Wyckoff of IL the same John in 1840 Montgomery census? And the same John who married Katherine Cole in 1819? IL John's wife named "Polly" which is not a nickname for Katherine.
If they are the same John, then Montgomery John's parents are John and Ursula who are buried in Landers Cemetery.
Any help with this would be appreciated. I'm trying to connect Montgomery County Wycoff's to the original Wyckoff's of New York.
