I don't know how I missed your reply here. It might have been when I had a big problem with my email being hijacked by hackers. Thank you so much for all this wonderful information over two replies. Nathan and Dorothy Wyeth were my great Aunt and Uncle. Dorothy was my grandmother's sister. Are you a family member?
Margo Jones Pomeroy

Norman Wyeth of Cambridge Mass died in Florida 1911

from Florida Times Union August 20, 1911:
Delray, Aug 20- Mr Norman Wyeth of Cambridge Mass, an employee of the Florida Coast Line Canal and Transportation Company, was bitten in the calf of the leg Friday afternoon by a diamond back rattler and died that night.
Mr Wyeth had been in Florida only a short time, coming here for his heath. He worked on the keys for a time but the work was too rough for him and last Tuesday he went to work on the dredge Nimkee, then working about 2 miles south of Delray. Friday afternoon he and 3 others of the crew were at work on the canal bank when he was struck by the rattler snake about 6 ft long. Owing to the absence of all the boats from the dredge at that time, it was an hour or more before the unlucky man could be given medical aid. There was no whiskey or other antidote on the dredge and all that could be done was to bandage the limb above the wound.
Dr JR Cason and WE Bell of Delray worked on him from 5pm until the time of his death and did all that was possible to save him, but the deadly poison had too much time to do its work and he passed away at 9:30 that night.
He was 30-32 years old and a man of good birth and breeding. The courage with which he bore his suffering was nothing short of phenomenal. He requested that a minister be called and his relatives notified. His main regret seemed to be that his mothe could not be ---n. The body will be sent back to his home in Cambridge.

The Taft Oval Office had simple Georgian Revival trim, and was likely the most colorful in history; the walls were covered in a vibrant seagrass green

WEDDED AT BAR HARBOR. Wyeth.............Julian married "Constance Whitworth Britt"

the Willcox House in Seabeck...........

Clark Gable may be gone with the wind, but his memory is alive and well at the Willcox House in Seabeck. During the 1940s and '50s, Gable was one of many celebrities -- including Errol Flynn, Spencer Tracy and John Wayne -- who were guests at the home of Col. Julian Willcox. The Willcox House is now a celebrated country inn filled with memories from a bygone era. Phillip and Cecilia Hughes are the current innkeepers of this elegantly restored estate. After purchasing the property in 1988, the couple spent more than a year renovating the house while preserving the essence of the original estate. Visitors will find many Willcox trademarks like lush landscaping, dolphins etched in the mirrors, and a saltwater swimming pool. The new owners added their own touches including a home movie theater with Surround Sound. Cecilia, a former fashion designer, made all the bedspreads for the five guest rooms including the Clark Gable room, named in honor of the former guest. The couple also keeps a well-stocked library with a few books written by another famous visitor, Ernest Hemingway. The Willcox House attracts visitors from all over the globe and was named one of the top 12 inns in North America by Country Inns Magazine. Guests usually come for the gourmet meals and awesome view, but many are immediately drawn into its history. ""This house has great bones,"" said Cecilia Hughes. ""Many of our guests want to know about its past."" The original owners of the Willcox House were Col. Willcox, his wife Constance and her sister Agnes Britt. The colonel and his wife had one son, Julian Jr. The Britt sisters were the daughters of a wealthy San Francisco judge who made his fortune by handling the Camp Pendleton land acquisition. After their father's death the sisters inherited the money needed to build the Willcox House. The estate was built in 1938 on 25 acres of land for $250,000. Col.Willcox, an officer in the Marine brigade stationed in Bremerton, began his connection with Hollywood as a consultant for the movie ""Tell it to the Marines"" starring Clark Gable. The colonel soon became part of an elite Hollywood circle and invited many of his new friends to his Kitsap County oasis. Celebrities who stayed at the Willcox House were able to rest, relax and enjoy the natural beauty as well as the colonel's personal pub and gambling room. Tracy Willcox-Stout, granddaughter of Col. Willcox, recently visited the Hugheses and shared old photographs, a century-old baby book, and many memories from her childhood. According to Willcox-Stout, who often played at the house as a child, movie stars were not the only visitors to the house. She said her grandfather acted as attach to many highranking military officials and on occasion entertained dignitaries such as generals Dwight Eisenhower and MacArthur. After the Colonel died in 1971, his wife and Agnes sold the house. The sisters died within a year of each other shortly afterwards. The house went through a number of owners until the present owners drove down the long road to Tekiu Point where the grand Willcox House stands. The rest is history.
You may still be related, just a lot further back on the family tree.
A lot of the Wyeths are descended from Nicolas Wyeth, who came over to Cambridge, Mass. from England about 1640. That's maybe ten generations ago.

There is a minister in Barnesville, Ohio named Jeffrey Michael Wyeth who is putting together this gigantic family tree showing all the Wyeths in the U.S. He's been at it for years. We hear from him once in a while.
He can probably tell you where the down-to-earth Wyeths are, and I bet they're not in the Northeast branch.

Hi Benjamin,

I am your cousin, Marian Wyeth, daughter of Jerome Wyeth.

I just saw your post from 2002 and couldn't help but notice all of the familiar names. Are you still there?

Are you Brenda Lee's son? I met her long ago when she, Albert and Garland spent a summer at Auntie B's on Cape Cod.
I hope everyone is well.

I have some information about the family and some pictures -- I'm not sure whether it's anything you don't already have, but I'd be glad to share what I have.

I didn't realize that George had 3 or 4 wives. Who were they, besides Emma? Do you know whether he and Jane Sullivan (Autie B's mother) married? Do you know who the other possible wives were and whether they had children?

I'd enjoy sharing information with you if you are still interested.

Your cousin, Marian

You asked about the english Wyeth ancestry, I hope the attached gedcom file helps, we have traced our Wyeth ancestry back to a Mark Wythe who died in 1648, the first mention of Wyeth appears to be of Mark Wyeth who died in 1731 and the name probably came about as a result of a miss-spelling.

Am trying to establish a link with the american artists as I to am an artist in the Uk, although not famous

Thanks Iain Wyeth

Mary and Andy
I am a Wyeth from the USA. I have been doing Wyeth research since 1999. I believe the Wyeths you mentioned are on my tree. John Wyeth (1665-1605), Nicholas Wyeth (1601-1680), and Joshua Wyeth(1758-1832)& his son (1784-1870). John and Nicholas were both from Saxtead Suffork England. If this fits any of your information I will be more than glad to share my research with either or both of you.
Wallace

I do not know....that's why I asked. My wife (Wythe) and I travelled to Saxtead, Suffolk, Eng. a few years ago to trace her English progenitor - Nicolas (Wythe) Wyeth. I have found an unconfirmed connection on the internet to John Wyth b. abt 1560, Allington, Sufffolk, Eng. I was hoping to find someone in the UK, related to John Wyeth, so we could both benefit from the exchange. Do you know where (a web site) that we could find researchers in the Suffolk area and perhaps make a link? I can send you a gedcom file or ahnentafel of the Wythe family in America. Wythe became Wyeth and then became Wythe again. I noticed that there are several variants of the spelling in the UK.

According to my info., Gad Wyeth (1768-1843) and Mary Polly Kendall (1770-1855)are the parents of Nathan Lewis Wyeth (1801-1864). My line is from Gad's eldest son Jonas Parker Wyeth(1793-1855).
Please contact me and I will be glad to share my research with you.
Wallace Wyeth
