The 1880 census shows a Charles Wykoff, 19 yoa, Missouri, living with his 23 yoa married sister Anna Laura Weddle & her husband James W in Nodaway Co, Missouri. Charles would have been born about 1861.

A search on Rootsweb found a Charles Freemont Wykoff, DOB 24 Apr 1861, born in Maryville, Nodaway Co, Missouri and mentions that in 1880 he was living with his sister Anna Weddle.

Anna Laura Weddle's Missouri Death Cert. says her father was J W Wykoff, of West Virginia and her mother was Anzeline McCaslin, unknown state of birth. Give's Anna's birth date of 1857 which jibes with her age in the 1880 census.

Now, the problem. The Missouri Death Certificate for Charles W Wykoff says his father was Jas (James) Wykoff of Virginia and his mother was Anzeline McC????? of Kentucky. Despite the difference in middle names (W versus Freemont) it appears to be the same Charles. BUT, the DC gives his DOB as 9 Jan 1836 (as opposed to the above's DOB of 24 Apr 1861) and has him born in Indiana rather than Missouri. The difference in birth states I can live with but 25 years difference in age???

I'd say they were different people but the agreement in the name of the parents, especially with such an unusual name as Anzeline, says they must be the same. The 1880 census does not actually identify that Charles as being the brother of Anna. Maybe he's a nephew and the Indiana Charles is a much older brother? Does anyone have any more info??
