Wylde Burial Plots

I have been doing some research and am searching for information of burial plots of the Wylde family. I did locate Henry Ernest Wylde family plot in New City New York a the Germond's Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family immigrated over here in 1867. While tracing back my genealogy, it appears that the family did come from Worcester and the Commandery. I have been using googlebooks.com to find information obtained in the Visitation of 1682-1683 and The Heraldry of Worcestershire. I would like to hook up with any Wylde family descendants. It would be GREAT fun to travel to England and go on a tour of the areas the Wyldes lived in.

I have been following the family of Isaac Wylde (c 1821) of Cheshire who married Emily Dumbleton. I believe his parents were James Wylde (1765) and Martha Shatwell (1767) from Adlington, but there is a large gap in dates and I may need to track down more siblings. It may be that Peter was part of this family - have you found out anything more since your post?
Hi there,
My descendants are all wyldes. we have traced them back to about 1300. I know that John Wylde went to Virginia in about 1621 with A Sir John Zouche and they attempted to start an iron works on the banks of the river at Falling Creek Henrico County. It didn't turn out to be a success and Sir JZ returned to die in 1636. We believe that this particular John Wylde (there were many) stayed there.

We'd love to hear from you if this is of any interest.

Regards

Paul winch

Re: Wylde / Wilde DNA Project - Summary of Findings to Date...

“Wilde” Surname Project Summary Findings and Conclusions so far- November 23, 2007.

The project to date includes 15 individuals with 7 surname variations ; seven individuals with the name ‘Wilde’, three with the name ‘Wilds’, two with the name ‘Whiles’, one with ‘Wiles’, one Wild, and one Wildey. There are two more individuals whose test data are in process and not yet represented in this summary.

From a DNA standpoint, the participants fall into six Y chromosome Haplogroups (B2a1, E3a, G2, I1a, I1c, and R1b1), dividing further into twelve Haplotypes. This indicates the origins of this name group are quite varied.

The surname project at this time is still a small population. Still, within this population, we can draw a number of preliminary conclusions.

First, there are 3 clusters of individuals whose DNA data indicated possible common ancestral origins not previously documented. Within these clusters, there is generally multiple surname variants represented. This indicates that there are surely multiple origins of these name roots, while at the same time, the differing name forms have evolved from common origins, with pronunciation and spellings diverging over time. This means that it is not possible for any individual of these name forms to only consider their own name spelling as possible distant relations. Additionally this firmly confirms that individuals cannot necessarily expect that someone of their exact same surname can be confidently considered a relation. This subsequently means to properly assess relationships and origins more globally, as is the stated goals of the project, a broad group of name variants is required as we have started within the project.

Additionally, for all these name types, we need more participants to properly ascertain with statistical validity these relationships. We also need more genealogy (GED) histories to properly validate common geographical origins, as DNA Haplogroup origins widely published represent ancient locations, whereas many of these migrated prior to the common use of surnames and are therefore not very meaningful in the context of a surname project. For individuals who have not discerned ancestral geographic origins from genealogy data, this infers it is risky to assume published origin data tied to a surname is meaningful for them. We need Genealogies, tied to DNA data.

For these reasons, we encourage all interested parties of these or similar name variations to consider joining this project, and help us enrich our data pool and understanding of these surname histories.

For a more complete description of project objectives, DNA Test Data, project findings and conclusions, please visit the following web site:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Wilde/
Hi there
I am of Wylde descent and searching relations. Have dicovered my Grandad was born in Ludlow Shropshire. He married a Charlotte Preece, she died and he married again to a Mary Weaver. They had 3 children i think, my Dad was born in 1903. Am still trying to trace the line back. Grandad was born in 1860. Great-grandad was born c1830 but have to do more research.

I have tenuous reference in my family tree to a family unit of Richard Whilde + Elizabeth (nee Missinger?). Richard is reportedly from Yorkshire near Hull and Elizabeth from France.
This couple supposedly had children:
George c 1855 possibly in London
William c 1858 possibly London
Elizabeth c 1860 possibly London
Father Richard went to work on railways in India (where he was lost presumed dead) with Elizabeth and children moving back to Yorkshire.

I am trying to obtain any other family experences and research that would help me confirm these details or otherwise seek out the true history.

Thanks
Simon

Wylde/Wildes

My paternal GGrandfather John Wylde/Wildes may have been born in Ireland in the 1820's. I have found a possible marriage to an Elizabeth Slevin where they were living in St James parish Dublin in the early 1860's. It appears their daughter Mary was born in Ireland in 1862, Thomas Ambrose and John W (Walter) in Liverpool in 1868 and 1865respectively and Rachel in Liverpool in 1873. I can find no other chldren of the marriage.

Elizabeth does not appear in any census record, although her husband John described himself throughout at Married, not Widowed.

I would be very grateful for any information on this elusive branch of the family.

Andrea Wildes

I'm researching a line of the "Wylde" family that came to the United States in about 1824 from England. I'm trying to connect Jesse to the Ohio Wyldes and confirm his county of birth in England. Any information available is appreciated.

Jesse (b.1819), James, John, William, Benjamin (b.about 1783), Sarah (wife of Benj.), Hannah (d/o Benj. and Sarah) are all Wyldes appearing in Lorain and Erie Counties in Ohio throughout the mid-1800's and are potentially connected.

Family lore is that Jesse came from Shropshire but no information on where he landed in the U.S. He was naturalized in Lorain, Ohio in 1844, then moved to Putnam County, Missouri by way of Noble County, Indiana.

I do have a photo so don't worry about that. Stuart took awhile to get hold of as busy at work I gather. Good luck and good hunting. I am pleased you are helping your mother who has done a great job without the internet too. Thanks, Ana

Hi Anna,
Actually I am Betty's middle son and I am trying to contact Stuart because we believe that he is directly related to us.
As far as your queries go, there was a Henry but we dont know whether he was directly connected but because of where he was buried, we think so.
When we were in Derbyshire we visited a church where there are some plaques connected with us. This particular graveyard had been reduced in size for road widening and some of the graves had to be moved. The stones were p0laced along the pathway. One of them was a Henry Wilde Circa 1700 but we could not read the date accurately.
The nearest is the 27 Sept 1818.
If you contact Stuart, please could you pass him onto me.
By the way I used to live across the water in Brisbane for 30 yrs.

Cheers

Paul Winch

Paul, Although I am not descended from William Wylde of Nettleworth, I do have a lot of stuff on them. You are welcome to it as long as I get your stuff as well. I have been in touch with Stuart Wild and he sent me some of it but not how he is connected precisely. I am also in touch by snail mail with a Betty Willis who is descended from a John Wylde on that line and may be able to help you but has no email. I am connected somehow. I am looking for a Henry Wylde born 1795.? any joy? Do you have a George Wylde born 1823 in your tree as I have just found him and know he is connected somehow. I look forward to hearing from you, Ana Squire.
