Re: James Wynd

Researching James Wynd's second wife, Almeda Coffman. Believe that they married sometime after her mother died (1878, left everything to her daughter in return for being cared for in her old age). I think she is single and a dressmaker listed as Armada Coffman 36 OH OH OH (right age, wrong birthplace info for her and parents) in the 1880 Atlanta twp Logan Co IL census. In 1900 Peoria Ward 7, Peoria Co IL census, I see a James H. Wynd b Jan 1831, wife Almedia b Sep 1844 IL PA Germany (right age and birthplaces), and his son, Oscar b 1872 IL, living on Chicago Street. Not able to find marriage record or any later record of James and Almeda. Hope this helps.

WYND, Robert and Margaret born circa 1847-48 Dundee, Forfashire, Scotland arrived in America 1908.

Looking for any additional genealogical information on Robert Wynd, born 1848 in Dundee, Forfashire, Scotland shown at 21 Craige St, Dundee in 1881 Scotland census. Wife is Margaret Wynd, maiden name unknown, born 1847 in Abernethy, Perthshire, Scotland. Robert Wynd's occupation is shown as blacksmith.

By the 1891 Scotland Census Robert Wynd was living with Margaret at 17 Kinnard St, Dundee, Angus, Scotland. Living with them are sons, James, 16; Robert, 14; Michael, 5; as well as William Sturrock age 16 and Alexander Sturrock, 13.

Believe this James, then aged 60, and Margaret Wynd, then aged 62, left Dundee, Scotland to come to America to live departing from Glasgow and arriving in New York April 15, 1908. In America they would join their son, James Wynd, who had immigrated from Scotland and arrived in America on February 27, 1894 when he was only 20 years old.

This couple lived in Tunkhannock, Wyoming Co, Pennsylvania from the time of their arrival until their deaths. They are buried in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock, PA.

Their son, James Wynd, who married Eva Miller Kneller, on February 28, 1900 at the Presbyterian Manse then located on Wyoming Avenue in Tunkhannock. This couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1950 and had a family of 11 children who were born and raised in Tunkhannock, PA. James Wynd, Sr. (born 1874 Dundee Scotland, died 1958) and his wife, Eva (born 1881 and died in 1957) are also interred at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock, Wyoming Co, PA. Some members of this family continue to live in the area today.

Through research in both Pennsylvania and Scotland census' I've found some information on the family.

Please contact me if you are familiar with the elders in Scotland or any of their relatives.

James was christened in 1759, Lundie & Fowlis, Angus, Scotland.
The various names associated with Wynd in my direct line are Ogilvy/Ogilvie, Constable, Kerr/Carr, Fraser, Brown.
My grandmothers family left Scotland to settle in Canada except her.

My James Wynd had to have married in the 1850s. I don't have a record of his having a son by the name of James, but that doesn't mean he didn't. I have very little information about Coffmans or anyone else in IL. All the information I have on the family is in my note.

I am also searching for a James Wynd. A Coffman family bible lists a "James Wynd" as having married Almeda Coffman sometime around the 1870s. Almeda was living in Logan County, IL during the 1870 census and still unmarried but I have been unable to find any trace of her or James Wynd after the marriage.
I hope you'll post a reply if you've seen her name anywhere in your notes.
