FYI: According to Wikipedia and other sources, the Las Vegas billionaire, Steve Wynn, was born Steven Alan Weinberg, but his father changed the family name to Wynn when Steve was 6 months old.

Also I am trying to get my husband's Wynn genealogy & we are having a time getting the chain connected to 2 John Wynn(e) in Georgia. It seems that this same John Wynn had his name spelled (2) different ways.. Wynn & Wynne...Also this same John Wynn & John Winn both had wives named Martha & both had daughters named Lucy.

Here's my Irish Wynne details:

My GGG Granny was Annie Wynne who was born in 1844 in Drumkeeran Co Leitrim. She married Michael Duffy (born Drumshanbo Co Roscommon in 1831)in Roscommon in 1863. I have more information about their children if anyone's interested.

Would be great to hear from any other Leitrim or Roscommon Wynnes. Know nothing about this family line.

I would be delighted to share what information I have on my ancestors of the Wynne name.

I come from Llanrwst, wales and have loads of information on the Wynn's of gwydir also.

Have found my Wynne ancestor back to about 1720. And have visited their graves last weekend; in Gwytherin, Denbighshire, Wales.

Have been to Gwyhterin yesterday and found a great deal of my ancestors. I can confirm that my John Wynne (b.1845) and Ellen (b.1844) match yours. My grandmother was Ellen Wynne Roberts and I am Paul Wynne Roberts. My Grandfather was Charles Wynne Jones son of Margaret Wynne (John Wynne's daughter).
I have a copy of an e-mail i think you might have sent to a lady in Gwytherin.

Hello Melanie,

Many of my Wynne ancestors were born in Gwytherin. My great-granduncle, John Wynne, was born in Gwytherin circa 1845. He married Eleanor Jones at the Gwytherin Parish Church on 3 March 1866. On various documents I have seen Eleanor's name spelled: Ellen, Elinor or Elenor.

John died on 22 May, 1919 and is buried in St. Winifred Cemetery, Gwytherin.

Eleanor died on 24 February, 1922 and is also buried in St. Winifred.

Is this the John Wynne you are looking for?

From the 10 Feb 1899 issue of the Roanoke Beacon, newspaper of Plymouth, Washington County, NC.

Essie WYNNE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.W. WYNNE, departed this life at their home at Bay, Jan. 28th, after a long and painful illness, aged three years and six months. She was a child of remarkable brightness, and was loved and petted by all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Moses, and the remains were laid to rest in Albemarle cemetery on Monday at eleven. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.

Is this Groton in the US or UK? We have a Wynne who was living in Groton, UK c.1800 and was possibly a doctor. Is this just a weird coincidence?

Don't know if you'll get this message after so long, but I think we are related. My great(x3) granfather was Richard Lifton Wynne, and we know he had a wife called Mary, though we didn't know her maiden name. Amongst many children, they had one called Walter, who I am descended from. We know Walter had brothers called Charles, Robert Lloyd, Lifton and Francis, and sisters called Elizabeth and Margaret.

As far as we know, Robert Lloyd went to Australia and had at least one son, who had at least one daughter called Ruth. Ruth was in contact with my mother's family when she was a child. My mother remembers her visiting and believes she was a major in the salvation army.

Does any of this make sense with what you know about your family?

Marriage Records of Brunswick County, 1730-1852 by Fothergill

I need assistance in interpreting the following record from this compilation:
26 Dec.1796, Richard Tabitha Mize, Jeremiah Mize, sec.

Am I safe in assuming that this is a second marriage occuring on Dec 26 1796? Was Tabitha, perhaps, previously married to a Mize and now marrying Jeremiah Mize? Who is Richard? In two entries appearing previous to this one, the last name Blalock, appears. Does the blank space in front of Richard indicate that he was also a Blalock?
I know there was a Tabitha married to a Mize, but the date of this marriage does not fit my previous research.

Hi,

I'm researching my family tree and have come across a very mysterious ancestor called Percy Townson (born about 1885 in Yorkshire) who emigrated to Rhode Island in America in 1890. He marries and has 7 children but then seemingly disappears between 1925 until he registers for the Second World War back in Brooklyn. However, I think I have just found him on a telephone record living in Llanbedrog - the dates match exactly (he is there every year from 1926-1940). I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about a Percy Townson who lived here at this time, or why he would move to Llanbedrog. As far as I know, there are no reasons why he would move to Wales (ie. family).

I was very interested to note your referance to Francis Maceroni (Macirone)I am sure you know that he fought in the Napoleonic wars on the side of Napoleon. He became an ADC to Joachim Murat, King of Naples and wrote books about his Napoleonic life. On return to England he became involved in steam driven cars / trams. Do you have any detailed information about him, where he is buried, etc. He was born in Birmingham to Italian parents.

I would be keen to collaborate on information. You mention 3 Wynne children as travelling to NZ. All the passenger lists I have seen for the Thomas Harrison only list John, William (usually separate from the Roberts) and Mary (with the Roberts).
I have wondered what happened to Jane - I had thought she must be older and stayed in England!
Interested to see source you have seen.

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 12 February 1892 ...

Mrs. Margaret A. Wynne, mother of Mrs. W. H. Gantt, died Monday at the residence of W. H. Gantt in East Terrell of dropsy. Mrs. Wynne was 68 years old and had been very sick for sometime, which in a manner had prepared her friends for her death. the funeral was preached by Rev. A. O. Riall at Mr. Gantt's home and she was buried in the Terrell cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

I'm curious to know if anyone has information on a Peggy Wynne who was an English music hall actress/singer in the 1915-1935 time frame. She was part of a performing duo with Ambrose Barker and had a number of engagements in the UK and Australia. She may have emigrated to the US and starred in small parts in movies in the late 1930s and early 1940s.
