Jackie, my mother was a Wyrick also. Do you have any information about Martin and Jacob, who settled in North Carolina? I descend from Martin, as far as I have been able to determine. Would appreciate anything you might have on the elder Martin & on Martin, Jr. or siblings.
Thanks,
(cousin???) Margaret

He married Catherine Wyrick born about 1803 in Virginia. Their children were: William, Elizabeth, Martin, Valentine, and Rollan Wyrick.

Pat
Thanks for the information! I just thought that since Josiah & Nancy (Merritt) Wyrick named one of their sons, Peter, that there may be some connection to the Peter Wyrick, born ca. 1780-90. I am at a loss to the names of the parents of Josiah Wyrick, who was referred to as Joseph by the Merritt family. I do hope you can make connections to the persons to whom you wish to connect.

I am wondering if Peter Wyrick who married Nancy Norris could have been the grandfather, or some degree of relative of Peter Wyrick, born ca. 1846 to Josiah & Nancy Jane (Merritt) Wyrick? Josiah had 4 other children, Amanda, Talitha, Susan E., and John L. Wyrick. I have never been able to discover who the parents of Josiah Wyrick, born ca. 1815, could have been. Also, would like to know if he had siblings. Amanda Wyrick went to Kansas with her grandparents, Edward & Sarah (Carden) Merritt, after her mother died in Grainger County, Tennessee. She met and married Joseph Rice in Doniphan County, Kansas and they were my gr-grandparents. Any information concerning Josiah and his other children besides Amanda would certainly be appreciated. Thank you! Dennis

My mother-in-law's line is from Peter's son Jeremiah.

Here is partial info that lists Peter's children from EAST TENNISSEE ROOTS, Vol 4, No4, page196 regarding deed transactions in Grainger Co:

"Jeremiah Wyrick, Frederick Coffman, and Sidney (Wyrick) Coffman, all legal heirs of Peter Wyrick to Houston Wyrick, another heir of Peter Wyrick, deceased."

"William Henderson Trout and Sarah (Wyrick) Trout, legal heirs of Peter Wyrick, deceased, to Rowling Wyrick, another heir of Peter Wyrick, deceased."...

The deed was around 1848 so Peter was dead by then. No mention of a Joseph or Josiah so no proof that he was related. I am still trying to connect Peter to his parents.

He went off to war and was presumed dead so she remarried only to have him return several years later. He then married Carrie Wyrick and started a second family.
I live in Knox Co., TN, which is adjacent to Grainger Co., TN. About a year ago, I went to Grainger County and copied all the early Wyrick marriage records. The Frederick Wyrick and Feby Jack record is among those. You can provide your mailing address to me, and I will send a copy to you, or I can scan the record and email to you. I will need your full email address in order to do that. Let me know your preference.

jam

I found your 2001 posting on Ancestry.com, but by now you've probably found more information on your Wyrick line. Book 1 of Marriage Bonds and Licenses for Grainger County, TN, has record that Frederick Wirick secured a marriage bond on August 28, 1811, to marry Feby Jack. Bondsman was Martin Thornburg and was attested by S. Cocke, Clerk. Note on record says that name on bond was spelled "Wirick" but signature of groom was spelled "Wierick."

Just wanted to let you know that I searched my files last night and did find a Soloman C. Wyrick, born bet. 1827-1832. Date of death is 04 Apr 1914 (the same as yours). According to my files, he married (1) Mary E. Martin on 24 May 1851 and had 7 children (Andrew Jackson, Parlena, Thomas, William G., George W., Paulina, and John). He married again a Susan Elizabeth Chastain and had 8 children (George, Adeline Phoebe, Adam, Paul, William C., Susan Elizabeth, Solly Ann Wyrick, and John). What looks strange is that some of the birthdates of the children from different mothers overlap. It's possible that some of these children, ex., the two Johns may be the same person.

Do you think that this is your Soloman C. Wyrick? This one was the son of Andrew Wyrick and Catherine ???. Andrew was the son of Nicholas Wyrick and Anna Barbara Litchmere.

I have a Family Tree Maker GED file, if you wish to provide me with your full email address, I will send file to you.

Several years ago, I printed a lot of Wyrick information from the Cande’s List (or something like that) but got side-tracked in pursuit of some other family lines before coming back to my Wyrick line. Just recently I have been working on entering all of it (the Cande info) in Family Tree Maker, since I (along with a lot of others, it seems) have had no luck in finding Cande any more on the web. Once I get it all completed, I’ll have information on over 1300 old Wyrick records and will be more than happy to post it on the web.

jam

I've been entering a lot of information recently in my FTM files, and I'm almost certain that I do have some information on Solomon C. Wyrick. I am not in my home office today and cannot access the files. Will be back in touch . . .

jam
