Classification: Query
Surnames: Wythe, Wyth
My ancestors lived in Parsonstown (Birr) before moving to London in 1897. My great-grandfather William, born in 1846, was a shoemaker, as was his brother Thomas and their father Richard Wyth. I understand that our family had a “Wyth” relative living in the States in the 1800s who owned a theatre in New York and a St. Lawrence steamer.

I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has information on W. Wythe (1860 US Census) and William R. Wythe of Mount Vernon, Ohio (1870 US Census), as both were shoemakers born in Ireland where the Wythe surname is very unusual.Maybe there is a connection with my family.
