Mitchell G. Yahner, Sr.
Mitchell G. Yahner Sr., 59, loving father and devoted husband, passed away at Oklahoma City Veternas Hospital, folowing a lenghty illness, on Sunday, oct. 24, 1999. Mitchell, son of Raymod {piggy)and Ada Yahner (deceased), was born and raised in the Patton area, where he attended St. MAry’s School and graduated from Patton High School, class of 1958. Mitchell served 30 years in the U.S. rmy, was awarded the National Defense Medal, veitnam Service Medal with 1 bronze and 1 silver star. Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Medal, With Bronze Star Medal with “v” device, vietnam Campaign MEdal with Fourth Oak leaf Cluster, Meritorious unit Citation=Korea, Mechanics Badge with proponent Bar, overseas Service bars _4, Air Assault Badge, Driver BAdge, Meritorius service with second Oak Leaf Cluster, ArmyAchievement Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry citation with Palm, Mutinational Force and Observers Medals- sinai, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 11, Noncommissioed Offid=cer , PRofessional Development Ribbon _3, Army Service Ribbon, army Good Conduct Ribbon_9, U.S. Army Recruiter Badge with Three Gold Stars, Expeert (rifle m-16), and Legion of Merit, Tour of duty included one Korean occupation, two Vietnam tours and numerous deployments in Europe and Middle EAst beforingretiring as sargeant major at Fort Sill, Ok. Mitchell was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, 40-8, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Disabled Veterans and American Legion. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Delia F. Polisky ( formerly of Bakerton), now residing in Duncam , OK.: sons William Joseph Yahner of Incline Village, Nev., And Mitchell YAhner, Jr. , of LAwton, okla., A daughter, Kim Marie Massey of HErdon, Va.:2 grandchildren Lindsey and Ryan Massey, sisters Cecelia Zomok, of HErnando , fla., Emily Petrunyak and Romona Bortman, both of Patton. Family and friends will bereceived from 7 to 9p.m. Friday at Stevens Funeral homes, inc, 1004 N> Fifth Ave., Patton, pa. Vigil for teh deceased will be held on Friday. A funeral Mass will be held at 10’00 am Saturday at Queens of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, with Rev. Robert Roche, OSB, officiating. Commital will follow in St. Bernard’s Church Cemetery. Hastings Veterans gravesite servives will be accorded by local veterans organizations. In rememberance of Mitchell, please remember that he was a recipient of an organ donation. : Don’t take your organs to Heaven: Heaven knows we need them here”!!
