Funeral services for Thomas Phillip Yancey, 70, of Sachse were held Sept. 7, 2002, at Williams Funeral Home.
Interment was at Mills Cemetery in Garland.
Mr. Yancey died Sept. 4.
He was born June 27, 1932, in Greenville, the son of Emmitt and Bessie Steen Yancey. He moved to Garland at the age of four. Mr. Yancey grew up on the Webb Farm and often reminisced about coming home from school to get his .22 rifle and going squirrel hunting, fishing or swimming, his family said. He was a 1949 graduate of Garland High School
He retired from Intercontinental Mfg. of Garland after 35 years of service as a project manager.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the rank of sergeant and as a member of the military police. He was a member of the VFW Post $5076, Masonic Lodge #441 of Garland, 32nd Degree Shriner and a member of the Garland Shrine Club.
His father, mother, sister Virginia Sharp and brothers Roy and Wilbert Yancey preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquita Yancey of Sachse; three daughters, Pamela and her husband David Malone of Dimmitt, Deana and her husband Steve Matlock of Branson, Mo., and Lee and her husband Todd Polk of Coppell; 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah and William Malone, Stephanie, Taylor, Christina and Summer Matlock and Jansen, Kennedy and Larsen Polk; two sisters and their spouses, Evelyn and Mike Snow of Garland and Catherine and Eldon Merritt of Rowlett; and may cousins and friends.
