YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Lois J. Yancy, 70, who departed this life Friday, August 29, 2008.
Mrs. Yancy was born April 11, 1938 in Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter of Eugene and Mildred Collier Jefferson.
She was a 1957 graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, having worked at Habers Furniture Store, and as an interior decorator with Higbees Department Store. She was also a reflexologist. Most of all, she was a loving, caring homemaker for her family.
She was a member of the East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Harold G., whom she married June 29, 1957; two children, Donna-Chimene (Frank) Hernandez of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Paris (Tahsha) Yancy of Pontiac, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jada Yancy, Amber Jones and Judah Hernandez; a great-granddaughter, T.Maioni Yancy; a brother, Walter Jefferson, and a sister, Phyllis Mundy, both of Youngstown; and a host of family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Jefferson; and sister, Sandra Jefferson.
Friends may call Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
