Hello, do you know what city in Virginia? My grandmother Pattie's maiden is Yancy and her married name is Blanch. They settled in the town of Drewryville, Virginia.

Hello, my grandmother Pattie (Yancy) Blanch was from Drewryville. Her parents Elisha and Fannie (Londery/London)Yancy. Pattie married John Blanch he was from Raleigh,NC. They had 9 children-Willie,Anna,Charlotte,Bessie,John,James (my father),Nell,Agmes,and Peter. They were all born in Drewryville. Start out with the grandparents and the town were they had their children. It's a lot of fun, some things are hard to find especially the 1800's, you may have to get in contact with the town they live in. Its a lot of work. God bless hoping you find everyone.

Hey, friend, saw your post on Tennessee Yancy's. My family is also from there, long before my time. We weren't slaves, I was told, but close. My daddy told me stories of living in an abandoned boxcar alongside some cottonfields where he and his whole family lived at the time. They ran a "hot" wire from the electric closest to them to power an attic fan that they mounted in one end of the car. They said that was "luxury." Then, where they were at was taken from them to be made into Lake Tawakoni., so they moved to Indiana. Though we Yancy's seem to have embraced all creeds of peoples with our name, it is not all we share. We have many of our name searching for where we came from. My oldest sister is putting together a family tree for us. If I find anything more I'll let you know. Keep us posted also if you find anything out. We Yancy's pull together, that's one thing. We also seem to have another thing in common, and that is a love of religion, politics, and family. So whomever you are, if your name ends with Yancy, welcome to the family!

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2008 at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home for Mrs. Lois J. Yancy, 70, who departed this life Friday, August 29, 2008.

Mrs. Yancy was born April 11, 1938 in Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter of Eugene and Mildred Collier Jefferson.

She was a 1957 graduate of East High School and attended Youngstown State University.

She enjoyed life to the fullest, having worked at Habers Furniture Store, and as an interior decorator with Higbees Department Store. She was also a reflexologist. Most of all, she was a loving, caring homemaker for her family.

She was a member of the East Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her husband, Harold G., whom she married June 29, 1957; two children, Donna-Chimene (Frank) Hernandez of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Paris (Tahsha) Yancy of Pontiac, Mich.; three grandchildren, Jada Yancy, Amber Jones and Judah Hernandez; a great-granddaughter, T.Maioni Yancy; a brother, Walter Jefferson, and a sister, Phyllis Mundy, both of Youngstown; and a host of family and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Jefferson; and sister, Sandra Jefferson.
Friends may call Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

i have a floral painting--on the back is hand written this was painted by a r yancey a slave from savannah, ga. he was a bricklayer and the writing was done by his daughter araminter, who went to beach normanl school, dated chtristmas, 1905. any family history you can fill in for me. i bought the painting in massachusetts

Trying to locate a Rita Faye Yancy born on 4/22/54. Rita comes from a family of eight children, and most of them worked in the poultry business back in 1971.
I believe they lived in Georgia in 71. Not 100% sure.

My hobby is finding old Family Bibles and reuniting them with direct descendants of the original owners. I recently obtained an 1842 Family Bible in NC with Yancy, Vaughn, and Mulchi Families. Bible also has births for Martha R and Robert Yancy childrens dating from 1831-1843. Children of Martha and Robert are Thomas, Elizabeth Ann, Robery Y, Mary C (who married Washington L Vaughn), and Margaret M. Yancy. Please advise if you can help me find any descendants of these families. Thank you.

Researching Bryant Yancy who was married to "Lola" and resided in Covington, GA. Found in 1920 Federal Census of Newton Co, GA the widow Mamie Yancy enumated with her children William B. Yancy age 13, Kate Yancy age 11, and Dennis Yancy. Is this William B Yancy the same as my Bryant Yancy? Does anyone know this line?

The spelling Rackaci is a bit Americanized and not a correct Magyar / Hungarian spelling. Could it be Rakoczi, Rakoczy, Rakocsi.
To locate an Ellis Island manifest in One Step use :
www.stevemorse.org About 82 people from Felsovadasz and 49 from Gadna. There were Mihaly and Verona RAKACZKI from Felsovadasz. Similar to Rackaci spelling.

Oh my gosh...I had completely forgotten I even wrote that post! I had to go back and read it because I had forgotten all about it! Yes, you can have a copy of the photo for sure! Let me tell you though that I am not the geneology buff, it is my Mother who is the pro and has all the information you would need and would like to exchange with her, as I am sure she would be excited to do with you! She has had some health problems so she isn't up to par right now as far as exchanging information, but I did talk to her and she said she will get back to you when she is feeling better but in the mean time I will send you a copy of the photo. I have a Mary Bravis in my data base and will see where she fits in. As for the Nazsdi attending the funeral, I am sure it is Nadjadi or Nadzadi. The first name may be Margaret or Mary. I know the name Mary Bravis, but will have to see where she fits in. As for the Mrs. Mary Nazsdi (sp), I am sure it is Nadjadi or Nadzadi. Margaret could have been the first name. Samuel Hinton Yancy was my grandfather, married to Mittie Culppeper. I know there is some relationship to a Jones family, but I think it might be my great grandfather, who might have had the same name. The story is something about him and his wife leaving two babies on the Jones doorstep, and taking off, I believe my grand father Samuel Hinton Yancy was one of those babies. He married Mittie Vera Culppeper.

I think where there old home was, Samuel and Mittie, in Section, AL, which fits the location They either owned or worked a cotton farm as I remember from childhood. A three sided fireplace still stands where the house was. Grandpa Yancy died approximately 1948-1950. I was very very young, but remember him. Before he died, he and mittie had many children, at lest 14 that I know of, some of which are still alive. My mother was one of the children, Jewell Bessie Yancy (Van Houten) or some records show Bessie Jewell Yancy. We got her school records in order to get her a driver''s license, as there wasn't any bith certificate at that time. All the children were born at home. I have never been able to trace beyond my grand father Samuel Hinton Yancy, other than the story of a Jones family raising my great grand father, so it seems highly likely that your Samuel Hinton Yancy is my great grand father who was taken in by the Jones family. My understanding is that there was also a sister of Samuel Hinton Yancy taken in by the Jones family at the same time. Please feel free to contact me at Msbowen1@aol.com.

I am trying to verify a death date for Hester Ann (Harris) Yancey. I have one source that gives March 1920 and another that is 1942. 1920 is more likely because 1942 would make her abt. 106 years old.

Her husband, Hiram John Yancey, Jr. is supposed to have died in Independence on 8 Jan 1912.

My ancestors were from Jakubany, Slovakia, and the surrounding area. There is a reunion for all decendants from this village in Mercer, Pa in September. If your ancestors are from this area check the internet for Jakubany, Slovakia. The name has gone thru many changes.

We do not have any Zdipdos' in our linag.

ROSIE YANCY DIES AT SAREPTA- FUNERAL TO BE HELD THURSDAY- Bruce, Miss., Jan. 18- Mrs. Rosie Bachman Yancy, age 76, died at the home of her son, Mr. Emory Yancy, at Sarepta, Miss., on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Funeral services will be held from the Sarepta Baptist Church on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 1:00 P.M., conducted by Rev Cooper Hartley, assisted by Rev. Earl Wells. The ? E. Cook Funeral Home will direct the rites.
Mrs. Yancy was a native of Montgomery County. She has lived with her son at Sarepta the past 4 months. Well known in the county, and a member of the Baptist Church, she had a large circle of friends and relatives.
Besides her son, she is survived by a brother, Charlie Bachman, of Paris, Miss.
