Meda Alberta Yarbro early 1880's

Hey Kathy,

Thank you for responding. Okay, I called my mom and this is what I got:

Meda Alberta Yarbro was born in Breckenridge, TX in the early 1880s. She was the oldest of twelve. Her brother, Earl (he named his daughter Meda Earl Yarbro, and she lived out her years in El Paso) was the second oldest. The ten others were half-siblings, they had a different mother but same Yarbro father. We think Meda Alberta's mother's maiden name was Hubbard.

Meda Alberta married Frank Lee Williams and they had two sons. My grandfather, Andrew King Williams was the oldest, born in Van Horn, TX on January 16, 1904. Grandpa married Frances Louise Perry and they had my mother, Patricia Anne Williams in Douglas, AZ in Oct. 22, 1939 and my aunt, Meda Pauline (from our Curry side) Williams in Wasco, CA on January 5, 1947.

Frank E Williams was the second son. He married Alberta (coincidence?) Decker from AZ. I don't know much about them except he died Oct 1960 and was buried next to his dad, Frank Lee.

Both Frank Lee and Meda Alberta moved to CA when my grandparents did. Frank Lee died Dec 1959 and was buried in Ontario, CA. Meda A lived with Alberta, her daughter-in-law long enough for Alberta to throw away papers and mementos that may have had any family history before Meda A came to live with my grandparents. Meda A went into a decline after losing her husband and son within a year of each other. Meda A lived with my Grandma and Grandpa Williams here in Santa Maria died sometime in the summer of 1968(?) but was also buried in Ontario.

The family rumor is that two brothers, both Dukes (I think there can only be one duke) came over to America, had a "falling out" and one changed the spelling of his name.

Thanks again for any help you can come up with.

Kim

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: Sun, 26 Jul 2009 05:17:37 -0700
Ancestry Com records search do not have birth records online. Since you know the county of birth, you may be able to contact the county clerk and get more information. If you know your Yarbro grandparents names, provide them and perhaps someone may be able to assist.

I was born in Blythville, Ar. January 7, 1955 as baby girl Yarbro. I am looking for my biological half sister that would be two years older than me. I was given up at birth for adoption and my sister was being raised by our grandparents. Any information on my birth family would be appreciated. Nancy Hull

Genealogy DNA tests August discounts

Family Tree DNA offers discount for tests in August 08

The discount applies to those who join a surname project. I recommend no less than a 37 marker test.

The Y-DNA test is for males however, the mtDNA test will test the mother's linage.

Family Tree DNA email:

In June, Family Tree DNA ran our most successful promotion ever, in which we offered a significant discount on many of our test upgrades.

Now that our lab has had time to process the high volume of orders generated by that promotion, we are ready to challenge the record that we set in June by returning to you with our “Sizzling Summer Sale.” This time, the promotion is geared towards bringing new members to your projects by offering the following big incentives:

Y-DNA12 orders include a FREE mtDNA test (Y-DNA12+mtDNA promotion price of $99; normally $189)
Y-DNA25 orders include a FREE mtDNA test (Y-DNA25+mtDNA promotion price of $148; normally $238)
Y-DNA37 orders price REDUCED to $119 (normally $189)
Y-DNA37+mtDNAPlus orders price REDUCED to $189 (normally $339)
Y-DNA67+mtDNAPlus orders price REDUCED to $288 (normally $409)
mtDNAPlus price REDUCED to $149 (normally $189)

This promotion goes into effect immediately and will be available until August 31st, 11:59PM CST.

We would also like to make you aware of a change in shipping costs. Since our inception we never increased our shipping charge, even though in the meantime USPS has increased its rates 6 times. For that reason, our shipping cost will increase by $2, effective immediately. We appreciate your understanding.

http://www.familytreedna.com/
http://www.familytreedna.com/surname.aspx

NATIVE AMERICAN ANCESTRY?
http://www.familytreedna.com/ngene.html

World Family Network - Yarbrough DNA Project results:

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/yarbrough/results
www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/y/yarbrough/

Description:

The Yarbrough DNA Project is open to all who are interested in working together to find their common heritage through sharing of information and dna testing. All variant spellings are welcome. If your Surname is missing, we'll be glad to add it.

Surnames in Project:

Yarborough, Yarbrew, Yarbrough

Requirements:

A Surname Project traces members of a family that share a common surname. Since surnames are passed down from father to son like the Y-chromosome, this test is for males taking a Y-DNA test. Females do not carry their father’s Y-DNA and acquire a new surname by way of marriage, so the tested individual must be a male that wants to check his direct paternal line (father’s father’s father’s…) with a Y-DNA12, Y-DNA37, or Y-DNA67 marker test. Females who would like to check their direct paternal line can have a male relative with this surname order a Y-DNA test. Females can also order an mtDNA test for themselves such as the mtDNA or the mtDNAPlus test and participate in an mtDNA project.

Questions?
Not sure if this is a situation that applies to you? Want to obtain additional information? Contact the Yarbrough Group Administrator.

To join the Yarbrough surname project, please fill out the order form below. Your DNA test kit will be mailed tomorrow.

http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=C80674&am...

Yarbrough Project 6-Page website:

http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/y/yarbrough/

The test is a simple cheek swab. The kit will arrive and leave your house by mail. You simply rub the inside of your cheek a number of times with a special scraper, put the kit back into the envelope, and put it in the mail.
If you wish to participate, you may place an order for a DNA test and submit your pedigree..
Click here to go to the WFN Forum and submit your Pedigree Info
It has been believed for a long time that Levi Wm and James were brothers and most likely they were, however, I haven't personally found any 'proof' of this, only that lived near each other in White County, AR in 1870. Same story with Aquilla being James' and Levi's father. I still believe he is but no PROOF yet!

I'm assuming that you are a descendant of Levi William.
Hello, I am so happy that I found this post. I live in White Co. AR and I am descended from Mary Elizabeth Yarbrough , she married Pinkney McDonald KING in White County, AR 1885 . She was the daughter of J. W. Yarbrough and Aness C. ??? , Mary and Pinkney had 10 Children ,but only seven survived. Mary's birthdte is Dec. 3, 1867 in TN and died Dec. 30, 1921 , both are buried in Roosevelt Cem. , White CO.
Re: Yarbro Family

Saw your message. I am a yarbro also. I have researched the yarbro family history quite extensively and have a little of the following that may help you. Also I have a printed hardcopy of the entire file if you need it.

I have two great uncles that came from England. Their names were Plez and Jess. They came through Dyersburg Tennessee and one went northern route and one southern. Plaz went to yarbro Arkansas and founded that little town one mile out of Blytheville and then continued to Missouri.

His brother Jess went south to Jackson, Tennessee and became quite prominent in that are. All of Jess's relatives are in that area and further south than that. All of Plez's relatives are either still in Blytheville, Arkansas or in the Missouri region. Search under Plez yarbro and email me if you want the hardcopy. I'll send it US mail to you.
If you are the one from Plez's family you are related to me.
My father was Plez's nephew. My father was Shirly martin (Jiggs) Yarbro and his brother was Charles Richard yarbro. There are a lot of us still alive. Keep me informed and happy hunting. I've been searching for my mother for 37 years and haven't found her so keep going. You have the internet on your side. I had carbon paper and a typewriter to begin with.

Evie (cuz?)
