My name is Mary Lou Yax. My father was Frederick Paul Yax born 1918. His father Frederick Paul Yax born 1892. His father Paul Yax born 1853. Frank Yax and Margaret Wetzel are definitely my relatives. My father was Frederick Paul Yax Jr born 1918 Buffalo, NY. His father Frederick Paul Yax born 1892 Pennsylvania. His father Paul Yax born 1853. His father Nicholas Yax. On familysearch.org the Yax name was Jax. Alsace Lorraine. Which was territory that changed from Germany to France. This no longer exists so at some point must have been taken over by either country. Ida M Yax, age 17, d/o Frank and Mary LaForge of Gilford married Edgar Miller, age 29, b. Canada, s/o Joseph and Celia Smith Miller, on 27 Oct 1900 at Caro.

They are in Tuscola County census. Oldest children are sons Ray and Earl.

There is a picture of Ray and Earl about age 2 to 4, taken in Fairgrove, sent to "George and Susie" for sale on ebay 2013.

Hoping that a direct relative finds it. 'Eward', Ida, and Earl are buried in Lakefield twp cemetery, Saginaw County, Michigan.

MAXWELL-YAX
On Wednesday morning, Sept. 28, a quiet, but pretty wedding took place in the Sacred Heart church at Greeley when Miss Ethel Maxwell became the bride of Mr. Leroy Yax. Rev. Father Feeney officiated.
The bride and her attendant, Miss Jesse Jess, were becomingly attired in blue suits with harmonizing accessories. The groom wore the conventional black.
Both of these young people are favorably known in this community. Mrs. Yax is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Maxwell. The groom is a nephew of the Halpins and makes his home with Will Halpins.
The many friends of this young couple extend to them the heartiest of congratulations.

I am granddaughter of James Allington Low, son of Richard Baird Low & Clara Yax. Clara's parents were William Yax & Julia Losow. William Yax parent are Lambert Yax & Maud. Clara Yax was born on April 5, 1874 in Michigan and past away in Priest River, Idaho. She is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery, Priest River, Idaho. Clara Yax passed away on Feb. 10, 1943.

Hello :) My name is Sara Warner and I'm Wayne Yax's Granddaughter. I have some more info on Michael Johannes Yax's family other than the one son you mentioned. The son of his and Catherine Herbinne's that i'm related to is Jean Baptiste Yax, who was married to Regina Christina Champagne.

Jean and Regina had a son named Lambert Yax, who married Nancy Ann Hathaway.

Lambert and Nancy had a son named William G. Yax, who was married to Mary La Verse.

William and Mary had a son named John Marcus Yax, who was married to Carrie Mae Harris.

John and Carrie had a son named John Marquis Yax (my great-grandfather) who was married to Iva Hattie Green (my great-grandmother)

John and Iva had a son named Wayne Jay Yax, who was married to Joyce Florence Pawley. They also had several other children, who I can find out the names and ages of from my Mother.

Wayne and Joyce had 5 children. Kathy Jo, Karen Lynn, Cheryl Ann, Laurie Mae (my Mother), and Phillip Wayne.

Laurie Mae Yax married Michael Rae Warner and had 3 children. Identical twins Sara Mae (me) and Shannon Marie, then Hollie Michelle.

My name is Rachael Yax Muller b. 1963
My father is Lawrence Donald Yax
My Grandfather is Lawrence James Yax.
Maybe someone can help me sort something out that I am confused about. I have seen Johan Michael Jack's birthdate listed as 1709 but on the ship records from the ship Lydia that he came over on in 1740 it has his age as 24. That would mean he was born in 1716. Does anyone have any documentation that shows his true birth year?

I would like any additional information that you may have about the Michael Johannes Yax line. I am a descendant of Benjiman Yax, son of Francis Yax, son of Isadore Yax, son of Hubert Yax, son of Pierre Yax. I am especially interested in stories and pictures. I have a picture of Francis Yax and i believe Isadore Yax.

you can add me to your data base on decendents of Michael Yax.He and Catherine were my 6th gr grandparents. They had a daughter, Cecilia who married Louis-michael Trombly, they had a son named Joseph Trombly who married Cecilia Marsac. They had a son named Robert Trombly who married Phyllis Berthiaume, they had daughter, Adelaide Trombly who married my 2nd gr grandfather, John Corby. They had a son named, Stephen Corby who married Adelaide Pitre/Peters, they had a son named George Henry Corby who married Viola Whaler. They had a son named Richard Corby who married Evelyn Caruso. I am the daughter of Richard and Evelyn. Maybe you have all this info, if not I hope it helped.

Attention All YAX decendants.
I purchased 2 beautiful photo albums with over 100 photos at a thrift store. Album says it came from BUFFALO NY & most photos were taken at studios in BUFFALO NY.
the ONLY names found were GEORGE EHR. WIFE MARIAN YAX, & first names by three little girls. EVA LINA, LOUISA & CLARA.
One Man has on a Policeman uniform & another a Fireman uniform.
I would love to see these beautiful albums & their treasures returned to their family.

The last name was originally Jacks. My understanding is that it was changed to the spelling "Yax" to preserve the correct pronounciation. This is perhaps why you cannot find information predating his.

You and I have spoken before about Reaumes. Fabian, son of Louis and Charlotte Soumande was married to a Julia Landers (question on the last name) on 6 Feb. 1854. Julia died in 1902. Could she be the Gulia you asked about?
Their son John Fabian married Christine LaBelle from Elba Island and moved to Grosse Pointe.

Your great grandfather was Charles W. Yax.
I don't know his exact birth but he died
on 2/15/1953. His wife was Frances B. Kern
born in 1885 and died in 1961. They had
three children - Charles G., Vincent &
Catherine.
Also, Charles W. had 4 brothers, and a sister.

I am looking for a Joseph Yax b. abt 1872 who married Matilda (Gilbert) St. Clair. Joseph was Matilda's second husband. They married September 25, 1922 in Bay County, Michigan. Matilda's first husband was Lester St. Clair. Do you know Mary Bassett's death date?

My Gilbert line has two connections to the Bassett line.

I read your message board. My grandmother's (Harriet Kruse) mother was Emma Yax daughter of Frank and Margaret (Wetzel) Yax, who was born August 1883 in Buffalo, NY. She married Alonzo Masterton around 1881 in Rochester, NY. She had two brothers, Albert and and Charles (?) and a sister, Ida.

I have been doing extensive research on the family, collecting pictures, etc. It looks like we may be related and I would love to touch base with you to see what information you have gotten and share what I have found.

Make sure you go to Helen's site at

http://yax.tripod.com/yaxfamilygenealogy/ it is wonderful.

You can also go to your local library and see if they have the book called "Genealogy of the French Families of the Detroit River Region 1701-1936 volumes I and II" it is a wonderful book and you will find a lot about the Yax's in that book. They may be able to Interlibrary loan the book but if they do not have it but you will have to ask.

I'm looking for any info about a Clarence Yax born Nov 18 1907 to Charles Yax and Lucia Danenker in Dayton OH. He was adopted by Joseph Aultman in about 1908 . Married my Great Grandmother, Fern Nickerson in the late 1920's. They had two children, Carolyn Joyce b. 1929 and Floyd Raymond b. March 26, 1931. Floyd is my grandfather and has never known anything about his father's family. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Michael Johannes Jacks (YAX) was born July 1707, Allemand, Germany, died July 8, 1793, buried from St. Anne's Catholic Church, Detroit, MI. He and his wife, Catherine HERBINNE, eloped, immigrated via Rotterdam to Philadelphia on the ship Lydia in Sept. 1791. They were married in Goshenhoppen (now Bally) PA. by a Catholic priest even though Catherine was Lutheran. Catherine was born abt. 1726, Germany, died Jan 5, 1789. Detroit.
